If the Avenger can remain reliable it will be the budget PCP to buy!

Thanks guys. Mostly I want to get clean kills on giant squirrels and crows, so I suppose .25 will be fine regardless, right? I want to kill in as few shots as possible because I'm in a homeowner's association full of troublemaking busybodies.

I wouldn't shoot a 25 caliber with neighboring Homeowners Association trouble making busybodies. I would get the quietest one possible that will stack 14.3gr Crosman Premier Hollowpoints or domes back thevreg down to 1600 to not attract too much attention.

I was in several Home Owners Associations and even lost a property that I owned outright due to disputes that went with the territory that was out of my control. Sold my other properties connected to Home Owners associations right after that.

You just described my setup. With a .25 Tanto mounted to my .22 Avenger you barely hear me shooting. Draws zero attention. Quieter than my .177 Bandit.

With a cheap bipod and my skill level its making a 1/2" group at 85' target with Crosman 14.3gr Hollow Points. My reg is set around 2000 psi.

I know, I hate it. Sorry for your similar problems. We just had a meeting tonight that was supposed to be devoted to legit issues but immediately devolved into the question of who is evil and who is not. It was hard to imagine adults were involved. But they were and got zero accomplished besides fraying each other's nerves even moreso.

I take it for granted that I would get a moderator no matter what. So I'm picturing a moderator, let's say a DonnyFL, for $120-170-ish, on top of the cost of the gun. Do you think a .25 would still be acceptably quiet (whatever that means) for neighbors who are 40 yards or more away? We've got a few who are probably more than that but Good Lord are they mean. I would never say a word about any squirrel/rat hunts here because they would go out of their minds ... and I pretty much just saw it tonight ... again! Dang HOA nuts seething for something to fill their empty lives.

I agree with Yo 100%. In your situation, you want minimal sound AND minimal lead flying. My closest neighbor who is 100 yards away can hear me smack a critter with my .25. Not the gun, the smack. He will walk over to see what I shot sometimes. Never with my .22’s.

Ah, I see. That definitely puts things into perspective. A moderator wouldn't help there. I had no idea someone could hear that from that far away. Good to know, thanks.

...so why not back it down to a .17...???...

...I realized the .25 Talon/Escape was just too much for the back yard and rehabbed a .17 cal sub12 fpe target rifle...

...it has just enough power to embed 8-10 grain pellets into the back stop...

...that said a hole is hole is a hole...

Is a .17 enough to kill a squirrel humanely?

Was shooting my .25 yesterday in what passes for calm here in MA. (5-8mph.) Had Avenger set @ 1900 psi. & 2 turns in & shooting Jsb 25.39 & AA 25.4 @ around 890fps.@ 65 yds. Had 1 flyer on AA( my fault) but overall, I'm thrilled with consistancy. Will do 100 yds. today once my Honey-do list is complete LOL. ***** Why can't I load pics(have done so before but getting HTTP Error 500( even reduced file size but still around 6m.***** Re-started site, cleared browser history, cache, & cookies currently at a loss- usually a server side error******

Bmr4ife or anyone where do you get the adapter on the muzzle to fit the DonnieFL tanto thanks

He has a new one in the works that fits better. I picked up a Ronin with the adapter and also got on the mailing list for when the new one comes in. A little Teflon tape made the current one work pretty well.

The current one doesn't work well? Mine fits perfectly.
