If you could only have two airguns…

FX with all the modular options would be my choice. You can have it shoot anything from .177 -.30 you can adjust everything on the fly so paper punching you can get around 100 shots a fill depending on tank and ammo setup or you can set it to push 100 fpe and use it for small game hunting.

I currently have a bulldog .357 and a prod carbine .22

After lots of research FX will be my next and from there my investment will be in spare fx parts to build my gun up for what ever needs I have that day.

Pretty stellar option.

You can also go "modular" with say a RTI Prophet.

But yeah i think one would also have to be a FX for that reason, the other gun i think would have to be a large caliber ( .30 ) that is able to do semi auto.

I almost got the bulldog years ago when it came out, and as back then i could actually do that legally as i was wayyyyyy past 18 Yo back then, since then things have changed and going the age route all i can have is a .177

If i was allowed to choose from something not there yet, i will choose a gun designed to just shoot .30 slugs, from a conventional looking stick / box magazine, and able to shoot semi auto.

Are you aging backwards? Almost sounds like you are about to be under 18 soon and can only legally own a .177? Maybe all the dust in the workshop is getting to me lol

I ask myself this question all the time. What happens if something changes in my life and I can only have one or two airguns. Ironically I never asked myself this question during the 30 years that I was shooting a springer. So though I won’t say what gun I would chose, I will say that I can’t make that decision until I fix my need to constantly be chasing something that can’t be caught.

i pretty much only use 2 around here for serious work ... an mrod 25 and a prod .. everythjng else is me playin, so far .. nothing else is needed in my rural property to keep pretty much anything under control .. the addition of a sumo via a couple of adapters made them even more stealthy if needed .... but shots over 100 .. those arnt pests, at least not here theyre not ... i'd like a 'wonder gun' like an fx just to have one but its a toy is the bottom line ... the benjis are tools ... tools i use alot ..

What would they be and why?

I ask as someone who likes to plink out to longer distances and small game hunt, all while being ultra quiet. Most of the time if you just pick one of anything it tries to be an all rounder but excels at no one particular thing.

The problem is the number of use cases we have which then translates to number of airguns. To have only 2 airguns to meet all your needs(everyone is different) would be exactly what you said, 2 do it all guns or reduce to two use cases.

If I HAD to thin the herd down to 2 then............blasphemy! You have to pry my guns from my cold dead fingers!!!

If it was just for meeting the needs of plinking and small game I would take my brocock compato non regulated 177 for plinking and my airforce condor 25 cal for small game. The condor is powerful as it gets for a 2800psi fill gun in 25cal and very accurate for hunting. The brocock in 177 is my most accurate plinking gun and both are easy to fix and built to last. If we are talking about two airguns I would want rawhm100x in 25 cal and an airforce Texan 50cal CF. I have no experience with either one but I imagine that would cover my hunting needs pretty well.

Well my mind never made it that far, my body are now +2 X older than my mind :)

It was panic legislation that changed everything to .177 here, but there is still a small chance of going bigger, the question is if "we" see eye to eye on how the law is to be understood.

So i am going to take my chance next summer, and if it dont pan out i will just have to be the Ace shooter of the little ones.

I turn 55 soon, if i won a little money in the lottery one of the first things i would get is a motorcycle ( not licensed for driving those on the streets ) modified for stunt driving.

I just saw this post today after I was in my shop pondering this exact question, but my number was 3.

Of my 5 airguns I could easily narrow it to 2 because of the platforms they are.

I would keep the .22 Maverick as the platform. Pulling the .30 liner and probe from the Wildcat MK3 makes the Maverick golden.

Sell the WC as a .22 (Have extra liners and probes).

Sell the Dreamline Classic .25

Sell the AF Condor SS .25

Keep my Prod for the under 50yd pests/plink.

Fact is I will keep 3. The Maverick, WC, the Prod and sell the other 2...Until the "next one" comes along ;)

If I had an extremely evil wife that would only allow me to have two air guns I would likely divorce her. Unless she was rich and treated me like royalty except for this one fault.

If that were the case I would be holding on to my Impact with four calibers of barrels and the ability to be anything and my 2240 which like the Impact is extremely mod-able.

i am probably to much of a newb to make an accurate decision yet on specific airguns.

i am a buy once, and not a "work my way up" sort of guy, so i try to rationalize buying something expensive by choosing something that can fill multiple roles.

although they are not universally loved, and perhaps i should have waited for the externally regulated model (if that is next), i still think at this time i would choose the Leshiy 2, because it can be a cheap to shoot (not to buy) plinker that fits in a typical laptop bag or small backpack, ,30cal sbr, or an effective hunting tool that is easy to carry around. probably not the best choice for anything specific, but not a bad choice for a "one gun" guy like me.<don't laugh!>

for a second air rifle, i don't know...yet.
