Try hanging a old 8"or bigger saw blade, It makes a nice loud ping noise not a thud,, Just a FYI I thought it was pretty cool.

I know when i forge steel, i can get various tones from the bars when striking it . Was thinking(ya..dangerous) that you could take varied lengths/thickness of hardend bar steel and make an airgun Xylophone for target fun. Hang it in front of a pellet trap or in the trees.

You need a loose fitting arbor for the center hole. Hanging it from the edges deadens the ringing. Went thru the same thing myself with a 12" blade.

YES make sure metal targets either spin or swing freely . i you want a ringing and more
