If you've ever wondered what a rattler with a pulsar thermion weighs in at...

this is way more manageable and the perfect rat gun. With the profiles in the scope it's so easy to swap it around. Need a class to learn everything about the scope though.

What do you think of the LRF? I think it's really accurate for what i do, mostly shooting rats with it on a p-rod at the moment.
@elittle1234 I think the LRF is decent. I tested it out in some fog tonight. It has trouble reading distance in thick fog. I was getting 5 and 8 yard readings on trees that previously read 45 and 50 yards. But the thermal sensor picks up animals good through fog.

Yeah, fog or small twigs can be a real pain. If it's windy and a leaf blows in front of it, it will throw it off also.

I was on my lawn with it on a shooting stick for 30 minutes. I was so still a skunk had walked up behind me and was eating stuff in the grass. I had to wait for it to move away and started walking and it like crouched down and stuck his ass in the air. there is nothing like seeing that glowing shape of an animal that would normally be invisible though, it's crazy.

That's me way on the right, and the skunk on the left :D
@elittle1234 Good thing you didn’t get sprayed. That’s no fun. What sort of camera did you grab that photo from?

i’ve caught a lot of animals on thermal video and photos. They’re interesting to watch. Using the Thermion as opposed to a night visions scope will take some getting used to.

It's a wired cctv PTZ camera that scans my yard. I have a giant IR spotlight back there which is why you can see so clearly.

Modern PTZ cameras are cool in that they automated can detect and track movement, and even zoom in on it.
I have been contemplating getting something like that for the camera on my parked car, so i could cover all the traffic in the back yard, but then again the other PPL living here probably get butt hurt.
So i can only see my little car + a few feet around it.
THX to optical zoom ( 20 M distance to car ) and 1440p resolution i am getting a nice crisp image with a high chance of identifying a person near my car, day or night.

Onboard IR light source easy reach out to 100 M, even visible even if i do live in a town with some degree of ambient light at night.
A modern starvis 2 bases camera will probably easy be able to do full color at night with just the ambient light, even if this little Danish town are ( fortunately ) far from the light polluted towns elsewhere in the world.

I am pretty sure the 10 W LED light in the back yard would be plenty to provide full color footage at night, at least it is plenty for my dashcams, that facing the light are largely getting blinded by the damn thing.

I have 2 of these hard wired in the back. They are about 6x8 inches each. I can see out to 40yds clear as day. I have 8 wired 4k 8MP cctv cameras and 2 PTZ auto tracking cameras wired to 2 DVRs in my house that display to 2 - 32 inch monitors or to my phone/tablet/laptop.

Each camera is on a 2 second rotation and each DVR is a certain zone, so I spread it out over 2 displays to reduce the time between views.

I got bored during covid and kind of went overboard. :D
