This was a guided trip. Iguanas are everywhere but the guide was in Ponce the south or south west region of the island. I'd highly recommend him.

I was at the Northeast of the island in Carolina, and didn't want to drive half way across the country for a hunt!

It's not like driving across the United states or even Texas. The whole island is 100 miles long and only 35 miles wide.

That island used to home one of the best radars ever built not unlike the radars that are gaining popularity in our sport.

Yah, but if you're in the northeast, traveling to the southwest can take a long time. Not as many big direct roads....
For example, travelling from my town in mediania Alta (relatively close to San Juan) to ponce is probably only 52 miles, but easily takes 2 hours to get there.....sometimes 2 and a half or 3 depending on traffic. 2 and a half hours for less than 55 miles. It can be arduous. Think how far you'd get in 2 and a half or 3 hours in Texas......But since I enjoy driving, and the sights are beautiful, I don't mind it......just not something you'd do every day...

@bigfish, that is a lot of lizards. Must've been a lot of fun to have so many opportunities, good shooting on your part. I'm 60 years old and my first BB gun kills at 15 years old were small lizards, (not iguanas) in Puerto Rico. Your post sparked up those old memories for me.

I took mine to PR. It was easy...brought it to Alphabet org agent and declared it as a firearm.. no problem..

In 2109 I went to China twice and ate everything my Chinese friend put in front of me (lots of restaurants for cheap). Pig intestines on a grill was disgusting otherwise I loved it all.
The iguana are creepy and blasting them would be AWESOME. I can picture a .25 Predator Poly Mag at 920fps hitting one in the chest

Just occurred to me to hook an Iguana with a giant halibut hook and drag it behind a boat. Think of the 'hit' you'd get from a shark snacking it down!

Don't shoot them in the chest as they will only look at you. Head shots for a kill and near the eye for sure. I say that from experience and talking with Iguana Girl (Jessica) at EBR.

Agreed. Head shots are almost essential
This one only took 1 or 2 steps, and the entrance hole was behind the right ear, exit behind left eye.
