I'm on fence with RAW hm1000x -Evol- for the 100 yard gig & I seriously dislike shrouds.

Im in a few days I'm purchasing or $ commitment to a dedicated 100 yard only airgun. I have a AGT Uragan in .22 compact for pest duty & .25 full size for 100y. I have shot sub moa w/ pellets but I'm ready for something different to try. I have talked to Martin on a RAW being built slightly differant then offered & will know about that soon. I dislike carbon wraps & really dislike shrouds. I shoot the .25 Uragan bare.. I would go Evol if they didn't do the shroud thing.. & again I dislike them that bad. Also single grub screws for barrel retainment don't do it for me & at least looks like RAW uses 3. I much would prefer a threaded into action gig but doesn't seem to many do that. Are there any other then AAA Evol that are threaded without shroud systems. ?
Thanks Joe

Not sure what you dislike about a shroud, but are you aware the evol shroud is very different than normal shroud? It is intergrated with the barrel to make a very good barrel tensioning system. Makes a very accurate, stable, sturdy, indestructible platform. It’s the only airgun I have that I can carry on a sling while hiking, biking, climbing trees canoeing etc. and not worry about poi shift’s.

Do you have the uragan 2? If so have you tried slugs? The u2/v3 in .25 and. 30 I believe are both unchoked cz barrels. the vulcan likes a 2553 diameter avs slug. Just Google "avs slugs vulcan 3" and the guys video from avs slugs will come up for YouTube. I'm pretty sure they were claiming moa out to 200 yards on the .25 vulcan. My .30 barrel will do sub moa at 134 yards if i do my part but I haven't pushed it further than that. Might want to look into some slugs before buying a whole new rig unless you just want a new toy to play with. Happy shooting and ill be curious what path you end up choosing. Edit.. noticed you said you are ready for a new rig so I still recommend you try slugs if you have the uragan 2 but other than that I've heard great things about the raw and you should be please with it, but don't expect it to shoot any better that your uragan if you are already sub moa with pellets.

I'm definitely keeping the Uragan 1, just need to pull barrel & give proper clean. Ive only ran the jsb 33.95's & NSA 29 .249 slugs. It didn't like the those particular slugs but didn't do any adjustments for them either. My dislike for shrouds came 20+ years ago with 1st pcp, I didn't need them then & don't now. A screw on mod is ok , but I realy don't even need that as I'm rural as all get out & have my own range. I do like the reply of the EVOL being able to take that much punishment without POI change. I have read the EVOL has threaded into action barrel.? & yepper it's time for new toy to play with. Id look at FX M3 more but barrel to action mounting has me scared of POI shifts & then some. but they win & seemingly alot, just don't know if I have the patience for delicate anymore.

Taipan Veterans have the barrel threaded to the breech block. Shroud can be omitted and there are 1/2x20 threads cut into muzzle end so you can thread a moderator directly to barrel. Or go bare and look funny and be loud.

If you consider the Rogue Raptor as was suggested, you might inquire about the barrel attachment system. I owned one of the first gen Raptors and it was a simple grub screw affair.

I went an entirely different direction & completely different from the post I started here. I guess my shroud & grub dislike isn't as deep as I thought as I have a RTI P3 in FDE, w/ rail extention for arca plate, etc.. coming from AoA. There barrels & external adjustments have my interest & especially the barrels. I'll ring it out with JSB 50.15 & Zan 56gr 1st. Also I should introduce myself,... I'm Joe from Wa state. I used to post on the yellow under springers & 10 meter rigs. I still have a Walther LGR that will do true 1 hole groups at 30 with definitely no wind.

Mountain sport air... on YouTube does this torture test with a Evol, FX, Brocock... I can't find it now (help me out guys)...
After watching that... You will definitely see that the Evol is a freaking tank!!!
@Jaxjax though you bought something already, just an FYI, the barrel system on the American Air Arms Evol is a tensioned system versus simply shrouded and held with grub screws. Once assembled it is a solid barrel that can be threaded onto and off of the receiver as a whole unit for cleaning the bore and such. There's no reason to disassemble the tensioned barrel and shroud system ever.
