FX Impact M3 ... POI change journey.

I had this same problem, and done everything that you have done, my first area of concern was the 3 bolts holding the Scope rail on, 2x 4mm tiny bolts and 1 x 5mm bolt this seems very weak, especially the first thing most Guys do is add a Sabre tactical front rail which puts even more stress on those tiny mounting bolt and to make it worse some use a top mounted Bipod such as the GRS one all stressing those tiny bolts, So fitting a Backbone rail thats one piece and held on with 8x 4mm bolts seems a very worthwhile upgrade.

the second area of concern was the barrel itself, this is how not to fit a barrel to a rifle, held in with one grub screw any a clamp if you have the barrel tensioning kit, I glued in the Carbon liner, then got a 16mm Id 20mm od carbon tube, then a 20mm Id 25mm od Carbon tube, I skimmed off the 20mm tube so it would fit tightly into the 25mm tube, so once it was all together then was no flexing anywhere, I refit the barrel to the action, then I Modified a 25mm Scope mount and made a bracket that connected the Barrel to the Backbone rail, tensioned the barrel, then tightened my modified barrel mount, so the barrel+ backbone rail fitted with a Spuhr single piece mount are all as one, tuned it to the smallest group I could achieve, then Zeroed for 65 Yards MPBR

I can now completely rely on it, I have shot over 2500 Rabbits since making the modifications without altering my zero and it has been almost as reliable as my Trusty Theoben Rapid 7 ( which takes about 5 minutes to fix if there's a problem )

Although its working good now, it should have been like that before it left the factory for such an expensive rifle.

WHen you watch all the Promo videos of the SA pigeon shooters, youll notice they all sit at a bench first and check the Zero ( I wonder why? )

My friend bought the Panthera 700mm .25 at the same time I bought my Impact, and apart from the cocking handle falling out twice ( which I have since modified as well ) the rifle has been faultless with no zero shift at all, he laughs at the trouble I've had with my Impact but they are equally accurate now.

Would I buy another one, Yes now I know what to sort out , Might swap in my .30 cal Bobcat, although i have never had a problem with that since I bought it in 2012.

And there are some on these forums that still insist the original " factory" setup is faultless!!! :ROFLMAO:

That’s because they’ve never owned one that has truly been fixed. Yes, they can still have potentially more problems than the average PCP but orings are one thing, a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde is just plum frustrating. I have three of them. My latest build with a 560mm barrel is a shockingly consistent gun. Was just popping mice with slugs last night at 70 yards. Gun hasn’t been shot in over a week. They can be fixed. None of this warm up shot or check zero nonsense.

Yes, I replaced both of my regulators with Huma regulators 1st Reg set at 180 bar 2nd @135 bar, I can leave it in the gun cabinet for 3 weeks and check the reg pressure and it doesn't move< I want to just pick up and shoot I haven't got time to spend 30mins zeroing before I use it. My Rapid 7 shoots lights out and has done since 2010 without the need to keep rezeroing. so the Impact should do the same as far as I'm concerned.

Mine is the same, a couple of things I've added to it but the internals are stock other than the carbon barrel sleeve. I've been shooting my new Krait and just took my M3 out yesterday for the first time in a week or so. Still hit where I was aiming from the first shot. But I also don't have it maxed out with pressure, hammer spring, valve............fairly low pressure and spring considering what some people are shooting. In my case I believe not maxing everything out is part of the solution.

Hi All!

I managed to sort my POI issues out. unfortunately, I did a few things all at once, so I'm not exactly sure what fixed it, but it's so insanely accurate, and I can take it straight from the case and shoot exactly where I left it, unlike before.
1. My barrel was under tension, i.e., when I removed the front bolt, it moved significantly. So, I ensured the barrel was inserted correctly and finger-tightened the bolt, keeping it in place.
2. I cleaned my barrel with JB Paste to remove any lead deposits stuck in the barrel.
3. I fitted a Saber Tactical / Delta Force top rail.

Absolutely love my setup now! .22 Shooting 25gr JSB redesign at 970fps (2.1 SD) 9 FPS Spread.

That's all it took ;)

I am shooting my Impact 100 meters rings BR, and that distance is a benchmark for myself. I never had an accidental PO shift in four year and over 20K shots. Liners floating on orings, barrel floating on orings, yes I replaced those to NBR 90 all of them.
I toke it apart milion times doing some internal surgeries, that I wore out the 3mm threads and I re-thread all of them to helicoil SS inserts and SS screws.
My side note to a comment above about 2x4mm and 1x5mm screws that holds the upper pic rail ---- I am working on a 308 F-class project gun and just replaced the pic rail to new ... I did the bedding yesterday for the rail ... You know what screws holding it? 4 screws 4-48 ...
