So I rarely post, But on this topic I really feel the need, as I think it will interest a lot of Impact owners? I will try and keep this short and to the point.
Mrshosted, a member and talented teammate of mine called me around a year ago and asked my thoughts on a more adjustable power wheel for the Impact. I quickly responded, I don't have a problem with the OEM original with the exception of it being made from aluminum, which dents and peens, which can change things with use, I have witnessed some that are so bad, they are hard to pull out, as the grub screw is imbedded. anyway, the point is, I wasn't very interested and wanted the same one in steel. well, he totally disagreed and drew up and prototyped the Monster power adjuster, way before the MK3 came out buy the way?
so the meat and potatoes of this is, he gave me one of the production units, I put it on 3 different impacts and played with the tunes. Wow, did i have fun! the range of adjustment is massive, I could go from 750 fps to 950 in 20-25 fps increments, with the 25 grn 22 cal reds, really check the tune on the top end to make sure I was not over hammered. (very common)
it was easy to install, crony before on max, whatever that may be? switch wheels, turn the wheel to where you want max, crony, and adjust your grub screw to match! then you can really start micro testing to get best results for that reg setting, it will save me 10 to 15 tins a year on just tuning in my opinion and give some real versatility to an already versatile platform. all I can say is, I will have one on every Impact I own, they are steel, 56-58 Rockwell, very consistently made by a professional machine shop to my knowledge. I cant find a downside? with one exception, they are tight with a Sabre Tac cocking block and you will need to kiss about 10 thousands off of it to rotate smooth, and that is it! if you have any questions, I'm sure Monty will be glad to answer, I don't know how many he has or how many he had made, I think they have been going fast?
