I am in favor of most of our new president's actions but I wonder what impact tariffs on China will have. My favorite P35s easily fit under the now former $800 limit for application of the former tariff. Now I've heard that has gone away. Our less expensive guns and compressers come from China. I guess they will now be a little more expensive. I hope that is the only impact.

Initially, the post office was no longer going to be shipping anything from china, but I guess they decided to change your mind at the last second.

It's hard to say. Just like with Canada and Mexico, there's a very good chance the tariffs will either be put on hold or revoked. It also might be that China decides to devalue it's currency or subsidize production to keep things at their current prices despite the tariffs. It could also be that prices end up increasing 10% or more or that Chinese producers decide to move their production in order to avoid them.

You can count on the manufacturer's doing everything in their power to dodge the tariffs. Since the Govt. in China and their manufacturing are the same thing effectively they will take what steps are necessary to avoid an exodus of manpower to Vietnam and other Asian neighbors that are hot on their heels for manufacturing jobs.

No fan of the PRC but buying my sht in advance of this pointless potential trade war. Not just the Made in PRC junk either...particularly anything I want in the near future from our closest partners too..I mean WTF?

Edited to add: I unintentionally reordered a 2nd GX CS4 for my son & was kicking myself in the as for the error. Now I think I may just live happily w that mistake

I don't like antagonizing our friends and allies without very good reasons, but it really seems foolish to trade freely with our enemies and to make them rich and powerful.

Ha I made it in before the mods lock this ya 👍. It must be realized that the majority of this tariff talk is just that. It’s a weapon for negotiation and a very powerful country can use it very effectively. As far as China goes sometimes doing the the right thing may sting a little. They are basically owning us currently.
IE whatever the effect it needs to be done.

Its just a leveraging tool, not a trade war. Tariffs are used all over the world for many different reasons, and the US almost always has a long list of tariffs. I think your civivi knives and yong heng compressors will be just fine. If your dollar is worth more who cares if some overseas products are slightly higher.

I just got to experience the new tariffs. I placed an order Monday evening with Airgun Archery Fun out of Canada. I ordered a Beeman AR2079. I think my order applies since the AR 2079 comes from China. Wes emailed me yesterday and apologized and informed me that the new tariff was going to apply to my order. He offered a refund if I wanted. I decided to keep the order. He wasn’t exactly sure what the new tariff would cost as there will be some type of fee from UPS also. I‘ll update when I find out the total cost.

UPS collected the tariff that was due when I ordered 2 P35s and it was thus over $800. It wasn't a lot of money and I really wanted the P35s so it wasn't a big deal. But I would be surprised if USPS has the organization in place to collect it. I think they handle mostly small dollar value orders that used to be exempt.
I thought the Canadian tariffs were postponed for a month, possibly to be cancelled. Also, didn't Canadian currency take a dip vs the US Dollar?

Might should have took the refund.. I understand the tariff was put on hold. But, did they settle the USPS dispute?
