"X" The genesis of Impacts were Marks 1 through 4. I have a MK2 that has an X on it and I think maybe it was transitional. If you want to buy a new Impact, you'll get a MK4, but there are some good used MK2s and 3s out there, and I think they all shoot as good. Look for a good used one and save maybe $1K.
I saw a video they made it sound like the ex had a better regulator. But maybe the video is old. I don’t know.

I bought a used M3 with all the goodies on it for $1800 and it shoots great, just as good as my new Maverick I bought in DEC. I just purchased a new M4, because I wanted one.

Purchasing a used air gun from a member in the classifieds is taking a chance but if you do your research, you can find great deals on a M3 even if it is not in the caliber, you are wanting you can purchase a barrel kit and still be in for a lot cheaper than new prices.

I wouldn't sweat the regs, odds are you'll be putting humas in it down the line anyhow. If it has a modern power plenum retrofit to it or factory that's a good thing, if it's mostly cross compatible then you will be able to find takeoff or new parts.

Since everybody seems to want full retail pricing on their used guns, you may end up like me and just buy a new or newer used gun. Don't worry about the power block unless you get it with a plenum.

I think this is accurate, but that would only be a concern if you were considering buying a really old Impact. The OG Impacts came out like 10 years ago, and you wont find many of them for sale. I have a MK2 that I freakin love and it would be one of the last rifles I ever let go if not given a choice. I upgraded it a lot and it was very cost effective since I was able to get a good deal on a used one. If you find a Power Block M3 for a good price that is another solid option if going used. There are other makes and models we can also recommend but if you want an Impact an M3 or good condition MK2 is the way to go imo.

What I’m after is something with a lot of power. Accurate with a decent shot count. Being able to change calibers is a huge plus. The impact just seems to fit the bill. But I’m open to suggestions.
If you're looking for something that can do caliber changes has the same power as an Impact then look at the Maverick too, it has all of that and you can save some money in the process.

I was under the impression that the impact had more power.
That depends on the build. The Maverick has a lot of power potential, and in some cases a bit more than an Impact. But for practical applications they are on the same level when it comes to fpe. The Maverick has less orings, and less ease of adjustability, smaller mags etc. But they use a lot of the same parts, including the barrel assembly.
