Impulse air moderators, how are you liking them?

A couple members have reached out via PM and expressed this same sentiment, looks like I will be passing on these moderators... I am lucky enough to have the "backyard" that I do but the permissions I have require more.
Great 👍 is always good trying to help.. you really have a awesome back yard.. I'm putting some more aside to buy me some land.. this is my only hobby n I enjoy it a lot.

Does anyone have pictures of the baffles? Not certain if you really need to buy them to get a sense for roughly how effective they'll be.

They do look pretty, but I've only found one (external) perspective on the baffles. From that view they look potentially very simple.
They are a cone design. I dont know what degree cone they used but it doesnt appear to have much volume. Google the name and open images there are pics of the mod separated showing the design.

Do you mean this? https://utahairguns.com/impulse-air-ia-1200-moderator/#

They're all from one perspective, and don't show the internals. That's what I mean.
The only thing that isnt shown is wall thickness. It clearly shows the cone baffle just not the back hole in the baffle. Looking at the pic you can take a guess at the space around the cone and the cone it screws into. You can tell there wont be much volume between the cone and the baffle it screws into.

As noted, my "Huma" (M40) works well on my Caiman. A two segment work's pretty well, the full three segment is very quiet.
I added two AirMaks segments from my Caiman, to my Caiman X. It's still not as quiet as the two segment Huma.

And yeah, I noted your, USA comment. Any reason for this ?
Not being a smart ass, but, I'd bet that your computer, phone, refrigerator, stereo, possibly even the tires on your vehicles are now made off shore..!
As well as the gun that you are trying to hush !
I'm with you on buying American...but in reality...

Tons of things I own are not from the USA that doesn't mean it hurts to help our fellow citizen when we can purchase USA made.

I agree!
I would much rather buy USA if/when available, even at a higher cost, in order to keep my neighbor working. Why do we as Americans buy Chinese product which only serves to make a Communist country richer and even more powerful?
I have no beef with Chinese people by the way, it's the Communistic government that bothers me, so I choose not to donate to that cause.
Also, not trying to be political here, just making an observation as it seems that saving a few dollars ends up donating to a cause that Democracy opposes.

My last sentence (above)...agreed.
I like to buy US products, when I can, but it gets more difficult all the time.
And unfortunately, I've bought the same basic product (automotive, hot rod/race stuff), US made, and off shore made. The off shore part has occasionally been a better product. Not everything, but the situation is out there, so be careful.

Sweet Jebus on a stick... I came to the thread looking for info that someone may have to offer on a particular moderator I'm interested in buying and find a bunch of "adults" acting like spoiled brats tossing sand in each other's faces... Shameful...
They used to teach us, back when men were men and women were women, "Sticks and Stones may break my bones... And, "If ya don't have anything good to say, don't say it."

I'll take the plunge and buy one to test and share with the rest of the class. I'm just hoping for one in .357/9mm to use on my Rattler. Their suppressor setup is such a horrible design... Think hollow lamp rod with fender washers evenly spaced every 3/8"... No screen, no felt, nothing to help with vibrations... Just aluminum flat washers in a tube. Does it work? Yep. So would an empty Coke can. Could it be better, hell yeah.

These guys are pretty new correct? Everyone has to start somewhere. I still have an old Donny that he made in his garage. Look at him now. 😊

I have no beef either, I know Mikes question wasn't a shot but merely looking for perspective.

Ill be honest, I love my time, I love finding the best deal, with that said, things like amazon have made it to easy to use and buy offshore goods and I do it FREQUENTLY. I like to stay in shape, hike, spend time with my dogs, and airgun all outside of work. So I am picky and choosy on buy in USA , when it comes to a hobby like this, definitely would try my hardest but performance comes first and I haven't heard the best reports on these moderators so I am going to look at a couple offshore options.

OAL is 4.75 inches. The rear of one cone to the rear of the next is .725. Machining and fit is excellent. I will let you know on Sunday how it sounds, I do not have a DB meter so will just be my opinion but I will compare to my suppressed CZ.

Take these results with a grain of salt as this was with one of those $20/30 db meters. But this was all done in the same session and the rifle to meter distance never changed.

Ronin - avg 80.6
Sumo - avg 84.6
Fatboy with muzzle break - avg 84.8
Koi - avg 83.5
Ia1350 - 86.6

Now given the size (volume) difference between the impulse and the dfl's, the impulse holds up pretty well imo. If I could put 7 or 8 baffles on it to make it Koi length, there'd be a shift in the results. Keep in mind, the Donny's get a lot of their silencing ability from their volume and the felt wrap. Whereas the impulse is solid aluminum.

From a fit/finish perspective, the impulse hands down. The machining quality is next level. The threading is absolutely spot on with no wiggle. This is definitely an example where the usa made product outshines the Chinese machining of the donnys. It feels like it should cost what it does whereas with the others I felt like I was buying an overpriced 'oil filter', if ya know what i mean--buying the 'oil filters' direct from china is $20-$30, to put it into perspective. Then consider the cost to bring donnys to the US and the markup needed to put money in pockets...they are $20-$30 moderators that we pay quadruple or more.

But I digress, to each their own. I still use both. The impulse is on my nrl rig as it doesn't need to be hush hush quiet and in my use, the impulse for me has shown more favorable/tighter groupings--believe this may be the baffle/air stripper design.

I side with MOistOne and his theory. I recently sold a little carbine. Years ago I put a baffle stack mod on it. Over the years as I collected mods from different manufacturers, I would try them on the little gun. Nothing out shot the baffle mod. It wasn’t always a glaring difference, but it was there. If you are at all wasting air, the soup can or oil filter design might not be letting your gun reach its full potential. All the active shrouds I build start with a baffle/stripper before the silencing material. I wouldn’t go through the trouble if it wasn’t worth it.
