I recently bought an Fx impact m4. It seems to be shooting inconsistently on a double stand setup (no I wasn’t holding it) when I was zeroing it. Would anyone know the reason?
I disagree, there is plenty of evidence, he stated "FX". There is the problem right there.Not enough evidence put forth to even speculate
Johnsmith120 I feel your pain. I also have an M4 that is inconsistent. Here are my settings;
FX M4 Impact, 30 cal, 700mm, Vortex crossfire II 6x8-44 scope
45yds range
Reg: 130bar
Macro: 16
Micro 5
Front Valve: 4+1/2 turn
Pellets 30 cal 44.5 gr FX Hybrids
Recently (200 shots ago) replaced my stock 1:40 liner for a 1:16 STX superior heavy liner.
The 1:16 shoots slugs better than the 1:40. But 44.8gr Hades shoot better out of 1:40 as you might expect.
Today, using the heavy liner I was getting .60-.70 groups of 5 shots at 45yds. Then next shot is 1 1/2" north?!?!?? Next shot is low left by an inch?!?!? Then three next three are high an inch, but stacked on top each other.
Well maybe the scope is loose. Nope, checked it. Barrel liner loose, Nope checked it.
I bought the to kill pests humanely. It's not very humane if my vital organ shot hits a leg.
Not happy with my purchase right not.
Yes I cleaned the new STX barrel liner.
I'm getting the same issue with H&N 50gr.
If it were $10 wrench, i would have thrown it. But I did the responsible thing and just put it away for the day.
Micro at 5 is likely too much at 130bar. But maybe not. Stock hammer seems to be capped anywhere from 125 to 135bar. My M4 700mm gives me around 97% of max speed 20 micro clicks down from 5 at 132bar (it’s a .25 though). You need a chrono to figure this out. Plus, slugs are as*holes to figure out. A .30 Hades will be very humane to ordinary pestsJohnsmith120 I feel your pain. I also have an M4 that is inconsistent. Here are my settings;

I may be going back to shooting the Hades. I'm not shooting any critters at more than 60 yds anyway. Any shooting beyond that is just plinking for me.
Yeah the powder / shaving in the shroud and hollow can are normal, in particular if you don’t wash/lube pellets. Nothing to worry about imho unless it’s excessive. Maybe try to take the hammer back 15-20 clicks on the micro and see what happens?Greenbeans, I've tried pressures from 90-150. Accuracy has been best at 130 bar for pellets and slugs. I've shot 1500 of the Hades thought the 1:40 but was looking for maximum killing power at POI so I bought the slug liner. I may be going back to shooting the Hades. BTW I did notice small shavings(powder) when i took off the stock, factory, moderator this time. Any comments? Should there be any at all? How much is too much?
We can rule out your speeds, they are rock solid.....BUT they may not be right for your particular choice of projectiles. BUT ..... can you do a test without a Mod but....seeing as you are behind enemy lines that might be an issue? I'm leaning more towards the scope or something (barrel) is loose. Knowing FX's assembly folks that is more than a guess. I like my Mavericks...BUT....there I go again....it took a while to get them sorted out, either due to FX's mistakes, a previous owner on one (guy should never ever have been close to anything mechanical), or my own stupidity.Skunks.
I normally shoot them with a 22LR. It always takes multiple shots to kill them. I got the 30cal M4 because its waayyy quieter than the .22lr. and I thought the .30 cal would have more knock down power. We also have an issue with bobcats killing my chickens. But they are "protected" here in commie-fornia.
I will be testing the parallax adjustment tomorrow. I hope that's the problem.
