I was wondering if anyone has tried indexing a FX liner with a carbon fiber sleeve bonded to it, or does the sleeve/bonding eliminated the need to index the liner for maximum accuracy.

Yes, I have tried indexing both a .25 Superior and a .25 Slug A with the bonded CF liner. Prior to that I got significant differences as I rotated the liner. With the bonded CF liner, there were still differences but they were minor, probably 1/4 of what they were without the CF.

Use a tapered dowell gently pushed into the liner to hold it from rotating while you tighten. It works, I did it!

Thanks for the reply. If I didn't want to change calibers or liners would you recommend bonding the CF/liner to the barrel? Would it make much of a difference?

I installed a CF liner from Ernest on my 700 mm pellet liner, which I had previously indexed. It still needed to be indexed, maybe a hair less sensitive than before. It's not hard to index; in fact the fit in the barrel is a good deal looser than with O-rings. I will try the dowel trick above. Thanks dc8cappie!

Any air gap present between the barrel and carbon fiber tube represents space for the barrel to resonate independently. Bonding them is preferable. Not saying it will assuredly produce better results. It might or it might not. But there is nigh on 0% chance it will perform worse.
