Industrial Argon Tanks

I have a couple industrial argon tanks that hold 300 cf and 4500 psi. and looking at the different options for fill tanks. I'm thinking about getting my first PCP ( Marauder ) and would like to know if anyone has used this type of tank for filling their airguns.

Although heavy at about 140 lbs. they wouldn't he to be moved except for refilling.

Any input will be appreciated, "Thanks".

I am using a very similar tank (6K N2 tank) of the same volume. I contacted AirForce when contemplating using Argon since I had it on hand for Tig Welding and they said they had not tested it so IF it damaged a gun (which I highly doubt seeing it is inert and dry) the warranty would be voided. Your tanks, however would work fine for Clean Dry Air or Nitrogen at their standard working pressure (4500 psi). You will need a fill adapter to mate with the tank valve and you have to pay special attention when filling to just barely crack the valve open or pressure can climb too fast for the Marauder to handle. Having said that, I can say I safely fill mine all the time direct from the N2 Tank.

You can of course get a regulator and set the output for 3000 psi for total safety but they are quite pricey.

"T3PRanch"... since I had it on hand for Tig Welding...

Thurm, bro, just bought a welder and about to get a plasma cutter. Give me some lessons so I can weld me up an airgun turret for the top of my truck. Haha!
All joking aside, I purchased an scba setup with firefighter tank because that was convenient to my air supplier, the local fire department. I think the most convenient source is the best. A good tank dolly for a heavy tank would be cheaper than a new set-up would be.

Plink, Truck Turrets are so yesterday. What you want is a 4' wide 8 bladed multicopter with an underslung turret to carry that semi auto PCP with a 90 cubic inch tank for lots of shots and a set of FPV goggles that let the turret and camera with electronic generated crosshair track with your head movements. This is completely Doable with current off the shelf RC parts ! ;) :p All I can teach you about welding is how not to! :p

I use a 90 cubic inch tank when I travel away from my N2 Tank (1.5 miles at most) and never leave my property. I am waiting on a valve for my E-Bay cheapy 45 min Scott 4500 psi bottle.

Thurmond, Thanks for the reply and very helpful info.

NMshooter, You make a good point, however if I do go in this direction I can fill a smaller tank off the 300 cf bottle for transportation if needed. I
I'm still undecided which direction to go. I have to be certain I can get someone to fill the argon bottles with air before I start spending money for the different fittings and adapters I would need.

"T3PRanch"Your welding supply store should be able to fill them with Nitrogen which in my opinion is better than air since it is completely dry and inert.

I'm going to the welding supply tomorrow to find out what my options are. I don't know if they'll fill my argon tanks with anything other than argon, but if they will, I can go with either air or nitrogen.
