Informal comparison of arken epl-4, athlon Midas tac 6-24 and 5-25 ffp scopes

I recently acquired those 3 scopes for a shoot out (pun intended).

I rushed out the Arken fairly quickly - while the clarity was good, I couldn’t stand the grub-screw turret zero, and found that if I zeroed for 50 yards, I didn’t have clicks for 100, which was pretty strange. Could have been that particular scope, I suppose.

Comparing the two Midas tacs today in low light conditions (mostly overcast, winter day), interestingly I found the 6-24 beat out the 5-25 in terms of image clarity and resolution. Looking at an overturned tree’s root ball at 80 yards, I was able to see much more detail , contrast, and truer colors , as well as see into the shadows better, with the smaller scope. The 5-25 appeared much more washed out. Now it’s difficult to do an EXACT comparison, as the light could change while I was switching from one to the other, but it really surprised me to have the smaller one beat out the big guy.

Anyone else done a similar comparison?

Thought?

I feel the same way about those two MT's. The MT 5-25 has more elevation travel, great build quality, and it's my impression it doesn't have much better IQ than my Helos G2 6-24. My Helos is mounted and the MT 5-25 is shelved for now.

4 or so years ago I sold my MT 6-24 for no other reason than that I prefer the APRS6 reticle which wasn't out yet in the 6-24 but was offered in the MT 5-25.

Still haven't talked myself into a Arken yet. Too many scopes and not enough guns to put them all on so...... But I'm kinda interested in the DNT 7-35 which is supposed to have better IQ than the same Arken version.

I still have a NIB Vector Continental 5-30 I couldn't sell which I don't want to take a beating on so here I am sitting on scopes I don't need.
