Installing a Rimfire barrel on my MK3

Benchmark barrels are one of the very best barrels made period!!!!! There is no competition this is a far superior barrel to any FX or TJ barrel no offense.... Benchmark barrels has many world records with there 22 or barrels.... In the past for powder burners I probably bought 10 Benchmark barrels.... All shot great cleaned up perfectly.... Interior finishes smooth shiny beautiful machining Marvel.. Best of idea for a more accurate FX!!!!!!!😀😃
When I was building rimfire rifles, I always suggested to people to use a Benchmark barrel as I always had more confidence in using them as compared to other brands but most people would go with the Shilen ratchet or the Mueller barrels, not that there is anything wrong with those barrels but I always liked the Benchmark barrels the best. Here's a short story of the best shooting rifle I ever built, I used a Benchmark barrel with a Stiller Trident action and a Lidgard stock, I built the rifle for myself, when I got it done I took it to the club I was shooting at to test it out. There were a few members there watching me shoot it and not bragging but I shot some killer cards with it that day, just practicing, not in a match...one of the guys there asked me if he could take some pics of the rifle and the targets I shot and I told him go ahead....that night when I got home, I got a phone call from a guy in SC, I can't mention his name but he told me his friend sent him some pics of the rifle and the cards I shot and he wanted to buy my rifle. at first I told him it was not for sale but he insisted he wanted the rifle and money was not a problem....needless to say, 3 days later I got a cashiers check in the mail and the gun got shipped to SC...LOL and the weird part is, I never heard from the guy again and never seen his name listed in any matches after that.....

This barrel would be used for slugs only....I don't think I will have any problems getting them fast enough, I've shot some .25 cal. 41 grn slugs well over 1000 fps. with it. Most match grade .22 rimfire ammo is around 1040 - 1070.
22 vs. 25 I seem to find it actually easier to go faster in the 25, bigger hole more flow. I wish there were more people that would machine barrels for those wishing to make a change.

The larger the caliber, the easier/more efficient it is to produce a given energy level. Greater surface area at the base of the projectile translates to more force(psi) being applied to the projectile at any given air pressure.

I do not have any hard comparative data to share, but an example would be pushing a 33.97gr pellet in .22 to 900fps consumes significantly more air than a .25 33.97gr pellet at 900fps, assuming no significant differences in barrel length.

It will be interesting to see what tune the OP ends up with in .22. I do not own an impact but IIRC the few that are mimicking 22lr performance are consuming a lot of air in doing so.

I got into building rimfire benchrest guns a few years back, it started off as a hobby for me and then more and more people were bringing me barrels, stocks and actions to build rifles for them....next thing I knew, I was into the rifle building business and I was still working a full time job. I did it for a few years and finally said enough is enough...it wasn't fun anymore...I finished all the rifles I had and quit shooting and building rifles....I retired from my job and bought a fishing kayak and started bass fishing full time...LOL I just recently got into the air rifles, I ordered a Huma regulator for my M3 as I'm not happy with the consistency of the factory regulator...I'm supposed to get it this week and if it works as I want, I'm going to install this new barrel and start testing with it...:)

I think you will go full circle with this experience. Hopefully you will be able to go into this moderately and still have fun.

Thanks.......yes, I plan to keep it fun.....I don't have any agendas and not trying to prove anything to anyone and not looking for a new full time job.....:)
I'm now a member of the Everyday is Saturday club and I'm Loving it......LOL

I just joined that club in January. It's given me time to explore the PCP rabbit hole. Trying not to go too deep though. Very, VERY expensive hobby!
Congratulations, DBlue.
Thanks very much....and Welcome to the club...!!!! I Love it.....it's not old age not knowing what day of the week it is...it's the fact that I don't give a damn anymore....LOL
