Insurance for sales of air rifles

You should check with a local attorney, but I think you will find that an LLC or other business structure will not protect you in a scenario involving personal negligence. But if the assumption is that you are just selling an air rifle that you have not altered in any way, I believe your liability risk should be minimal. Of course, anyone can be sued for anything, and no protection is absolute. I believe that a bill of sale with liability waiver language should offer reasonable protection in the sale of an unmodified air rifle. Gunsmithing carries with it inherent risk of liability. The folks who have a passion for it take precautions through ownership structure and insurance, but some have left the business due to this very issue.
