INTRODUCING THE FX DRS TACTICAL

I haven't seen it mentioned here or in other threads but does the top rail have any MOA built in? Also, for aesthetics reasons, would there be some overhang if a Magpul PRS or PRS Lite stock is mounted? It looks like the rear of the receiver where the receiver end plate is located is not mil-spec in size.

I'm referring to this area here...

No MOA in the rail and the rear is mil-spec according to FX.

I will say that although I have no desire to really buy it, the feel is damn nice and like an AR

Are you referring to the rail being mil-spec? I was referring to the rear of the receiver where the buffer tube connects. That portion is not mil-spec.
I ment the rear, referring to your question. Zoom in on the pictures on the first page of this thread, you can also see that the overhang you mentioned doesn’t seem to be an issue.

I will report back when I get my DRST next week.
I have both of those Magpul buttstocks on other rifles.

I was wondering about the MOA of the pic rail too, I would guess it is 0 as the DRST is not advertised as a long range rifle.

You are right about the 0-MOA rail. FX explicitly says it’s a pellet gun that is able to shoot (some) slugs. For the .22, these are probably the lighter 21 grains H&N slugs which shoot pretty darn good in my FX Dreamline GRS (with 500mm barrel) on the tuning for 18 grain JSB pellets. Can shoot dime size groups up to 50 meters all day long with that thing.

Matt dubbers video showed him shooting 26gr slugs at 1024fps and dialing it down to 950fps for shot count with the 500mm. I don't understand why FX would say this is design for pellets but give such high number figures in all 3 sizes for all 3 calibers. 35fpe for .177 in 500mm is far beyond being designed for pellets.

That could be your new dragon slaying weapon !!
You know, for a slight second I thought about it once I had it in my hands and shouldered it. But I'd be making local law enforcement work three times as hard and they might actually come check on me because it looks like an AR lol.

Put two very big gauges on it and paint your moderator orange :) I couldn’t resist and grabbed on (.22 600mm), awesome rifle… a little playing with reg and hammer, shooting 18gr AEA at 895 with ES 6 / SD 1.x now… and crazy accurate. 5 mags/70 shots from 230 to falling off the reg (around 100-105, didn’t out a reg gauge on)… was considering the 500mm but eventually went with the 600mm for shotcount and noise. Still wieldable (imho) even with mod.

The only problem is that I am now well above the legal limit of 9 PCPs (wife) and I still want the U3… one of these days I’ll have to list a few I guess :(

I mean, why not make it an even ten? You can make an exception this one time lol.

Damn, good on you! My thing is I would not want it as pellet gun. I refuse to spend over a thousand dollars on a gun that will be used mainly as a pellet gun. Also I don't want a gun. That's long as I walk around everywhere in public with these. Last thing I need is a 42" AR15 looking pellet gun ya know? And I say that length only because I would need to get the seven hundred millimeter to get enough shots with the power that I would want.

Yeah I hear you… you could probably get it up there for heavy slugs but you’d be out of air after a mag… for plinking and taking it into the woods it’s a great gun though and with 33 FPE I have no hesitation out to 70-80 yards, should still carry around 20 FPE upon arrival.

Well, with the U3 (and the U2 .177) it’s more like 12 now and happy wife happy life, not even going to try to re-negotiate. All I can hope for is people not buying I guess :) just have to figure out which ones I’ll miss the least (will be missing any of them though…).

Ahh understood, I believe it. My thing is, if I were to get it, I would likely get the 177 and once again, I would likely just shoot slugs out of it. I don't need 3 177s lol.

How's your U2 journey going btw?

Going great :) except for the wind not allowing me to try it to 100… the H&N 16gr are shooting really nice. Not sure about the .178 NSA… they produce very weird strings, and are basically bouncing back and forth between 885 and 920. No idea why, H&N, KO produce 1.x SD strings with single digit ES… maybe gotta give the barrel a very light polish…

Instead of messing with the barrel, I would look into measuring the slugs first. I know, and they cast machines that are supposed to be super precise, but from what I have I read before there have been some batches that have the wrong sized ammo. Rare, but it could happen. Also, you could instead slug the barrel to see what would work best. H&N is .1775, Zan is .1775, JSB KO are .1776

Fair point. May measure a few, though same batch I’d expect consistency one way or another and they are literally bouncing between 885 and 920ish… they feel tighter to load as well, so maybe the transition to the rifling is rough as well. But yeah, may pull the barrel and bore scope, slug it and then take it from there…

Harder to load could be because of sizing, but the difference in size is very small. Although that's combined with nielsen slugs being way harder than anything out, there could be the reason why.
