Is 3000 psi enough? Difference regular vs fiber aluminum wrapped tanks?

What’s the difference beaten a black tank that looks like a co2 tank (similar) to a grey aluminum fiber wrapped tank?

I’m new to the pcp world want to get a used .22 for less than $300 I found a tank with regulator on it but it’s rated for 3000 psi is that enough of should I hold out for 4500 psi?

its a small tank 46 or 48 cc I’d have to recheck but I’m kinda looking for a backpacker kinda have my eyes on a Diana pistol in 22 and run a hose tot he tank in my backpack when I’m hiking or just to have around the house I’d love something a little different but I just can’t afford it right now a rifle would be amazing but for my budget I was thinking a small Diana pistol tethered or maybe something else in the used marked having quite decided by the way do how long mod tanks take have to be checked yearly? Do tanks go bad what’s the benefit of a aluminum fiber wrapped tank than a aluminum black paint tank?

Never heard of fiber aluminum tank. I think you meant to say carbon fiber tank. There are aluminum tank which are only 3000 psi and the carbon fiber tank which is 4500 psi. So if both tanks are the same size. Of course you gonna get more shots and fills from a carbon fiber tank. Most gun use only 1500 to 2000 psi to shoot so a 3000 psi tank is more than enough. But if you want more shots and fills, always get a carbon fiber tank. They are more expensive but will worth it.

Thanks yeah the 3000 psi ones just look lil cheap like they might damage easily the “carbon fiber “ Ones which your correct my mistake on ,is more beffy looking but more expensive

what used repeater would you recommend in .22 or .25? Under 300 ? Any besides the Diana bandit ? PCP of course the Diana looks great because it can hole magazines for follow up shops which I like but it’s hard to find a pistol in that price range except from MROD-AIR IF HE REPLIED TO HIS EMAILS HAH !

thanks you

Buy a Benjamin Maximus in 177 or 22 as your first PCP because it's cheap using the AGN 25% off discount code and FREE SHIPPING on FRIDAYS and has a FIRST RATE FIVE YEAR WARRANTY FROM CROSMAN IF YOU DONT SCREW AROUND WITH IT. ACCURACY IS ALSO GUARANTEED UNDER WARRANTY. It fills to ONLY 2000 psi so even a cheap $29.50 Aliexpress hand pump is easy for that gun. Get a good filter for it which is gonna cost more than that pump but is necessary. Good Luck. Yo!

More is always better from a fill tank so the tank with the most pressure that is the largest you wish to carry usually wins. Most of the carbon fiber Paintball tanks are regulated a bit low for your needs so you need to be sure to get one that will shoot at a usable pressure for the FPE you want or get a smallish fill station for around $300. Jdsairman can fix you up with the right regulator for the pressure you want to shoot at. He has some smallish aluminum tanks, which are great for on gun tethering as well.

Back in the day like fifteen or twenty years ago I carried this .22 2240 around through the woods and had a blast with it often as not out shooting my friend with his rifle. It ran on co2 had a Crosman barrel, DAQ single shot breech and a 4x scope back then.

Now it runs on 1400psi HPA, has an FX STX barrel, a Custom Air repeating breech and a 3x12 scope. Still shoots lights out but I gained 100fps in velocity.

I am with Yo if you want a rifle the Maximus and Fortitude are great inexpensive options that should werq well.

Hand pumping forces you to pick your shots wisely which will save your ammo on those important shots. You will understand once you pump it for a while. Get a cheap $10 and under 11mm bubble level. Helps you become a much better shot. Quicker understanding if you end up not taking my suggestion if buying a bottle type PCP and try pumping that one. Yo!

Yeah I got a bad back that’s why I want to get a tank like a real bad back I’m going through surgeries and don’t want to carry around a giant scuba tank I just want to be able to carry a small 22 to 25 pistol for plinking and ya e fun nothing serious just yet I can get. A good tank I’m just worried about buying it 2nd hand and realizing it’s gotta be taken in and all that

where are all these pistol pcps sold at under 300?

links ? Sites personal adds? Toss

em at me or pm me a hand pump so my last resort but not out of the mix just yet

"Most gun use only 1500 to 2000 psi to shoot so a 3000 psi tank is more than enough"

Seems many guns fill to 3000 these days (some higher?) and a 4500 psi tank is nice to have.

I guess you dont know the difference between fill pressure and the pressure which actually need to launch a pellet. Yes 90% airgun, if not more are rated for fill pressure of 3000psi and more. Very few have a fill pressure of only 2000 psi, which one I know is the Benjamin discovery. I wasnt talking about fill pressure. I was talking about the pressure needed to launch a pellet, which in most case with regulated airgun is the regulator pressure. Even guns like an impact/crown that is fill to 3600 psi only need 120 bar to 140 bar aka 1700 psi to 2000 psi to get its power. They do not use the 3600 psi that the gun is capable of filling to. The only need 1700 psi to 2000 psi.

And I guess you don't understand that filling to the higher pressure can give a reserve of pressure to be used, meaning more shots possible per fill. See, easy to say "I guess you don't know the difference". Sure I know the difference. You don't seem to understand the relationship.

I would just start with a Maximus it's really light easy to carry and low 2000psi starting fill and under $150 brand new free Friday shipping from CROSMAN dot com with AGN 25% discount code with a 5 year warranty guaranteed accuracy all positives in my book for a newbie.forgot to add less chance of leaking less stress on the seals in the long run with that lower 2000psi fill as compared to 3000+ psi fill guns like the Fortitude for example. Yo!

I'm replying to the statement about Tethering the gun to the tank in a backpack. You might find that quite difficult or next to impossible. Tethering while shooting stationary is one thing, Tethering while hiking/hunting is another. Not only does one fight the weight of the gun but also fight the more rigid pressurized fill hose. And a LONG fill hose it would have to be! Not ideal for off hand snap shots. I suggest rethinking that. Good Luck!

Hey YO. I'm still new here - how (and where) does the AGN discount quoted above work, please?
