Benjamin Is a .25 PCP rifle/pellet much louder than .22?

Just curious. If it matters, I really am referring to the factory regulated Marauder.

I cant tell you specifically with the MRod, but my Impacts and Wildcat are louder in 25Cal. I have tested same reg settings, same barrel length same moderator and the 25Cal is consistently louder. Not by a huge margin at moderate fpe levels, but certainly noticeable. The air charge also matters, but I think in the MRod that will be more reasonable.

Yep, "Impact" I was referring to my FX Impact model pcps.

Bigger hole means more air means louder report. Usually larger calibers run higher pressure as well, so again it will be louder. You can always add stuff to the front to make that quieter. As for action noise, depends on the design and hammer spring and hammer weight etc.

OP asked in regards to the (or a) regulated marauder, not in general...

The answer is hardly. I have both. and unless the .25 is cranked up and .22 is cranked down, the two are basically indistinguishable from one another, now comparing .177 to .25, I would have to say yes.

I guess it would depend on the law and your neighbors but a 25 cal Marauder doesn't scare cattle

A .25 cal marauder tuned to 30 fpe will be far quieter than a .22 cal marauder tuned to 30 fpe, both shooting 25.4gr.

I briefly had a 25 cal gen 2 unregulated marauder and it was definitely louder than I thought it would be. Everyone says how quiet the Mrods are, but it was only doing 38 fpe and still louder than some of my higher powered guns with a simple tanto out front.

Quietest gun I own currently is my own customized Kral Jumbo 22.

34" long, huma shrouded and doing 850 fps with Hades 15.89 pellets. It has just a little bottle ping noise, but you can't really hear the muzzle report.

Next favorite would be my Prod, which is probably just as quiet but no ping sound.

Yep, the .25 is barely breathing and the .22 is huffing a bit for 30fpe.
