Is a Weihrauch a good value?

Back in 80’s Beeman came out with a new model Adult Airgun. The Beeman R1. Was shooting a Sheridan Blue Streak and the idea of 1 cock, adjustable trigger and more power was music to my ears. The Sheridan cost me $79 and had a Walnut stock. This new R1 was $269 and had a Beechwood stock. Wow! What a big difference. It would take some time saving and sacrificing to get the Beeman.

Looking back that German made rifle was about 350% more than the Sheridan. Did finally get one and have been hooked ever since. Just looked up a new Sheridan on Amazon and they run $209. Plastic stock and nothing like the original Blue Streak. Proportionally that should put the R1/HW80 around $950. The HW80 is $411 at Krale. And a Walnut stocked HW35 is $373. Plus the still German made Airgun is (arguably) as good if not better quality than 40 years ago. If Sheridan had to make the exact old model who knows what it would cost.

Not sure where the Sheridan is made anymore. Probably China. Hope not. But just looking back and crunching the numbers between the two, the Weihrauch is a very good value.

Weihrauch is a great value, plus there are aftermarket tune kits that make them even better. Even though I'm heavy into pcp's these days I still want to get Weihrauch springers this year as soon as the one I want is back in stock. The HW80 is still a great all-around springer and the trigger is easy to adjust as well.

I think they are a good value in the scheme of things. I really think that everything costs too much these days. But......I bought a Weihrauch HW97k from Krale a few years ago. That rifle has been my go to everything springer ever since. I will never part with it nor stop shooting and hunting with it. I loved it so much, I bought a second one just like it about a year later probably. So yes....very good value/worth the money to me.

This gun is 36 years old. Shoots as good or better today than it did when it was new. No idea what MSRP was back then, but I'm sure it wasn't cheap.

How many Crosman or Gamo or Chinese springers will be around still shooting as good as new in almost 40 years? I beat the snot out of this one and it wasn't a safe queen when I got it. It hasn't so much as blinked...

Worth it? Yeah, I think so. 🙂

Probably worth a lot more than you paid. I have a FWB 124d that I purchased in the spring of 1975, so 47 years old and looks like new. I just last year had it reworked and tuned due to a failed piston seal, and was told it was worth somewhere around $900, which I doubt. I paid less than $150 for it back then.

Yeah, got my first Sheridan Blue Streak for a (7th) birthday present from my Dad in 1966. What a great gun along with the Silver Streak.

Got back into Airgunning in 2012, purchased almost every gun in the Weirauch lineup from Krale in 2016 - 2017. Weihrauch is easily the best made springer on the marrket, prices haven't gone up with General inflation.
Air Arms = best finished, Diane = most power, Weihrauch = best combination of the two.

Well as new springer guy two years ago, people like and including Mr. Groove convinced me to buy a HW30. Likely the best money I have ever spent.

Months later I bought a HW95. If I knew then what I know now, I would have sent it back the day it arrived, but I am now glad I didn’t.
I have since worked the bugs out of it and learned a lot.
I value it right there with the little one.

The 95 was a .177 as purchased, but I soon bought a .22 barrel. Right now it is a 12fpe .177
It is such a sweet shooter in any configuration and I can change the set up at my whim.

I will never sell either of them and would gladly pay today’s price if I had to do it again.
Worth every penny.

Right now I don’t think your going to get a better deal on a rifle just due to the fact guns have not had the increase in price like every thing else. I’ve been watching prices last few years like a Hawk, they haven’t increased, I’m in Canada. I bought several Weihrauch’s in January. I was amazed they didn’t rise in price from the price list a year earlier then but happy. Since the increase of everything else, the price of gas will surly help add costs. I think still pound for pound, dollar for dollar, you can’t beat the value of a Weihrauch.
I bought 30 tins of 15.89’s yesterday. They went up 30% from last time I bought them. Crow

I've owned two Diana's since 1984. I moved up to the HW's during the pandemic, a HW30s in 177, HW75 then a HW45 in 20cal and finally a HW50s also in 20 caliber. As hard as this may be to believe the itch has finally been scratched, I have reached the back wall of the last tunnel in that rabbit hole. I have passed up recent opportunities on previously desired AG's... yes even Weihrauch's. I'm happy with what I have, all I need to do is enjoy them.
