Back in 80’s Beeman came out with a new model Adult Airgun. The Beeman R1. Was shooting a Sheridan Blue Streak and the idea of 1 cock, adjustable trigger and more power was music to my ears. The Sheridan cost me $79 and had a Walnut stock. This new R1 was $269 and had a Beechwood stock. Wow! What a big difference. It would take some time saving and sacrificing to get the Beeman.
Looking back that German made rifle was about 350% more than the Sheridan. Did finally get one and have been hooked ever since. Just looked up a new Sheridan on Amazon and they run $209. Plastic stock and nothing like the original Blue Streak. Proportionally that should put the R1/HW80 around $950. The HW80 is $411 at Krale. And a Walnut stocked HW35 is $373. Plus the still German made Airgun is (arguably) as good if not better quality than 40 years ago. If Sheridan had to make the exact old model who knows what it would cost.
Not sure where the Sheridan is made anymore. Probably China. Hope not. But just looking back and crunching the numbers between the two, the Weihrauch is a very good value.
