Airforce IS AIRFORCE GAINING POPULARITY AGAIN?

Is it just me or are we seeing more and more posts about Air Force and not in the classified section? I feel like folks are just going back to simple guns.
I think people may just be tired of trying to sell them for next to nothing just to get rid of them. Good guns, but I haven't seen many AirForce posts recently. Maybe one or two.

I’ve owned quite a few Airguns.
Nothing shoots groups better than my .257 Scandalous and then my .22 Condor.
The Condor is excellent with 28-32 grain RBT slugs.
It’s so easily adjustable and I personally detest anything I can’t fix myself. Condor is easy to work on, adjust, revamp.
In fact I want to find a 28” or 32” 1:16 Condor size barrel.
The 1:17.7 won’t stabilize the long RBT Griffins over 32 grain.
Cheaper than a Mora or Panthera that can also send 40 grain slugs.

Not just you… but definitely “not” a trend… They are very nice gun in their niche…🙏

Which brand of slugs are you using on your .22cal Condor? I've got one sitting in the safe dying of neglect that I should revive.

.22 Griffin .2175” HRBT 32grain HP. That’s about as long as I can go. I can go denser/shorter with dish base 34-36 grain Before anyone tries to pick a slug they need to get micrometer measurements, twist rate and a twist rate calculator, chronograph.
Then slight difference 2S, 4S, HP or not, cup, dish RBT Solid or hollow, diameter .2165-.2170-.2175-.2180
A lot of testing.
Big reason I love an external regulator. That 24” ran best at 2150psi with the 110 gram hammer, heavier spring I had in, and no preload at all. A .195” top and valve set up for no play in breech. Probably 0.025” from ring lock to top hat.
I know lots of guys liked 0.010-0.015” but I’m trying for full flow entire length

I had a .22 Talon years ago that I let go for some reason or another. Lately, I’ve been thinking of getting one again. Simple, quiet and accurate. I rarely use a magazine anyway, so single shots don’t bother me at all.

I was thinking too that they must still be doing good business if they are still around. No real “innovations” either and yet they endure. I think mostly, at least here in the pcp section, that guys mostly talk about the latest and greatest new thing.

I have owned many different airguns over the years, but it has been a long long time since I can remember not owning at least one Airforce airgun. Multiple Condors, Escapes, Escape UL. I sold a few, and everytime I did, I came right back to another... I will always own at least one, it makes things right in the Airgun Universe. ;)

Don't hate on me but I feel completely the opposite. They are some of the most ugly airguns out there, they are all way to long for what they do, the trigger are pretty meh, they look like they are made out of stamped sheet metal. At the prices they sold for 2-3 years ago I could see some appeal, but for the updated prices near $1000 or more I would readily consider anything else other than maybe AEA.

To each there own I guess.

I'll speak for myself here. I've owned a lot of different high and low end guns.
For me, the AF line fills the 'tinker' niche nicely. Can go from a low powered .177 all the way to an arrow slinging gun sending bolts out at 460fps or a long range .257.
Over the last several years, I've went on a selling spree, getting rid of a lot of guns and I had sold or given away all but 5 or 6 of my AF guns and a few dozen other brands.
I've recently got the AF bug again and have been tinkering with a TalonP and building up another AF gun.

My AF stable right now is

Edge in .177
TalonP in .22
Talon in .22 with some custom bits
Texan Carbine 457
.257 Condor with Maddog stock and Nobel valve
Custom arrow launcher
Talon that I'm currently working on. Have a multimeter tank on it now, but going to throw a reg on it for a mid powered .177

I like the AF line for their simplicity. The ergonomics are 'ok', better with aftermarket bits. The trigger is horrid but serviceable. Far as ugly... Eye of the beholder. There are a lot of ugly guns out there in all price points. Single shot doesnt bother me. I've never found myself at a disadvantage hunting with single shot. If I miss, fine... I lost the battle.

I keep looking at a Texan in .357 and wanting to take that plunge, but I have a hopped up Bulldog that fits that niche. There was a really nice Texan 308 in white camo on the classifieds back around October that I wanted, but at the time, I was in the middle of Hurricane Helene and without internet for a month and by the time I saw the price lowered, it was gone. Was one of the first things I did upon getting my internet back was to search for it.

If this is a resurgence with folks, I'll wait around for it to die off and pick up another Talon or Condor off the classifieds to play with it perhaps.

It really depends on how much you shoot , or have the time to .. is really a chame that I don't have the time n recording equipment to show what those AF could do with a external regulator n property balance hammer n springs , if it wasn't because the reselling price of the higher end air guns is in the all time low .. I would only keep the 2 taipans . For those days that you want to use a magazine gun .. and my airforce guns.. and sell the rest . After 10 years + in the hobby, I really don't care much about anything new .. unless the market come with a .22 bullpub that could shoot 65 gr + slugs . And don't cost 4k .
.22 condor + 3 barrels 18" - 24"- 28" CZ
.25 condor + 3 barrels 18" - 24 - 28" CZ
.224 "" SS + 4 barrels twist from 1-14 to 1-8
.30 talon ss 2 barrels.. 1-26 -- 1-16 .. 28"
.257 talon ss for light bullets, 70 to 85gr
.257 condor SS 3 barrels 1-12 .. 1-8 .. 1-9
For heavy lead 85gr to 105 gr .. this year will possible ad a 177 if they managed to make me the tooling for a 8 twist .177

Everyone has thier opions and reasons, and fortunately there are so many great guns to choose from.

As for ugly? I can't say that I have ever bought an air gun because of looks. Function yes, but never for looks. I would much rather have an ugly gun that gets the job done, than a beautiful gun that is finicky and needs constant fiddling and adjustments.

Raccons get in the chicken pen at midnight and my TalonP is ready for them.

Yes, to each his own, I agree . But just a couple of notes, my Escape UL is only 37 inches long and weighs only six pounds with sling and scope. Detuned it is shooting 60 ft lbs, and can be dialed up in the field to shoot more if necessary. It does very well with both pellets and slugs. I shoot from 2350 psi down to 1800 psi, and almost always use a hand pump for filling, even though I do have a compressor.

Yes, the Condors can be long broomsticks with the 24 inch barrel, but the Escape UL is a different creature. The UL can often be found on the Airforce Outlet Store for around $500.00 so won't break the bank.

HeHe... as for ugly, it is indeed in the eye of the beholder, but there are boatloads of folks out there buying AR style rifles which are not all that far off from the casual look of the Escape UL.

I do own a couple of nice wood stock airguns and enjoy them just as much as my Airforce, but for that long woods walk which will typically be 5-7 miles, the Escape UL is perfect for that niche.

Maybe the interest kicks up a bit simply when someone brings up the brand? It's an established brand and being simple and a design that still stands on it's own somaybe there aren't a lot of issues for people to discuss or more importantly, complain about.

Let's face it, it's just not the new attractive beast and the buzz will always be less than over something shiny and unfamiliar.

I own 2 Texans and have a Talon on the way, so find the topic to be of much, much more interest than the endless FX and AEA threads...
