Is airgun interest going away?

Dang PCP does mean pay continue paying vs springers but a guy starting don't need a 2500$ edgun ..lol

He could hit a hatsan sale or referb PCP deal and get going nicely backyard fun cheap like a hatsan flash for $129. At44 at 249 .. the flash being good hand pump friendly go Amazon $40 phand pump and Walmart coho .22 at $6.50
He be blasting everything in his back yard smiling... ( Opinion) ..lol
I know that, and you know that. But a lot of the newbs have no interest in spring guns, they want instant gratification, semi-auto, it goes on & on. All the friggin' "What gun should I buy" posts prove it.And frankly, we (forum members) are just the sideshow here, the main focus is the advertisers selling the latest greatest. I am not running this forum down, just stating facts. I started on springers, mostly shoot pcp now, but I'm old.

It carries over to my earlier profession, music. In my day, you started out in cover bands, maybe you started writing your own material, or you moved to New York, Nashville, or L.A. got into the scene, played in clubs, and built from there. Now folks that have never played a gig in their life just audition for "Americas Got Talent" or the equivalent.

RANT OVER

Just to let everyone know that thinks I should lower my prices I am competetive with online and sometimes cheaper at a local level. Dont know what else to say.
I'm a new customer, prices quoted me were lower.. pellets were less money than competition so as long as everything continues good, I'll be checking with you on anything else I need.
thank you for your help today.

When I pay $5 for a dozen eggs. And I have to live on a $1,375 a month disability income.
And $900 of that alone goes into bills and maxxed out credit card debts of $5000.
Well, That's not even counting clothing and food.
I then have to worry about products not being made to last or field serviceable.
I go out on camping and survivalist trips for 30 days or more at a time.
And I need gear that can be fixed with spare parts.
To not have the ability to order parts. And given a depressing debbie downer attitude.
When my Umarex .25 caliber Origin needed O rings. is nonsense.
I could find no help online.
Or any parts list or schematic. Even in the Facebook Umarex Origin group.
So I called Umarex.
Remind you. I have not only a air gun I paid $369 for. But at least $350 in accessories and a $100 scope.
I bought this 18 months ago.
Anyways, Umarex customer service were very unthusiastic on the phone.
And gave me the vibe they did not care about my business or their own products.
They almost acted like I was asking for the secrets to make Plutonium.
And I was very polite. Even after thery blew me off when I asked them for some help with identifying O rings.
So I could replace them.
Their reply to me was a very curt and callous. Tough, Go buy a Gauntlet 2.
Your origin has been discontinued. Which also means they no longer have the parts to replace anything under their warranty.
And makes their warranty useless.
Not to mention A gunsmith would have charged me $400 to take a crack at fixing it.
Even though he is not necessarily trained to fix air rifles. As he is on firearms.
Now why would I want to buy another air rifle when I threw away almost $800?
Just to deal with some schmuck sitting behind his desk with a condescending attitude?
I don't get treated like this by Excalibur crossbow or even a chinese owned pocket knife company like WE Knives or Civivi.
So from my perspective. Besides economy reasons. I dare say that when you take a novice like myself.
Who went into debt with Affirm to purchase $800 for w basic beginner outfit.
And to have a company not even offer you a scematic or parts list for an investment you now own. And have a right to.
And to treat their own expensive products like they are meant for disposable use.
That don't inspire faith in me. Or that particular company.
I ended up giving the Origin away to a friend.
And told him good luck finding parts when the o rings blow out. And to save himself a headache and not rely on Umarex for any help at all.
People who are new to this hobby are treated like filth.
From companies who see their own products as disposable junk.
So, It's not just the economy.
As I have no problem going in debt and accepting the fact I will never be out of debt.Which is my own fault.
I have a problem that todays air rifle companies think asking for help with a set of O rings is asking for the secrets to make Plutonium.
No thank you. I would have been far better off buying a Henry .22 survival rifle.
Oh, Henry has plenty of customer service and far easier to service any of their rifles.
Sorry, but I don't subscribe to this throw away and buy a new one mentality.
And I doubt I will buy the Gauntlet 2 in .30 caliber. Since I can't trust Umarex enough to even keep the item from discontinuance.
Or to even offer a modicum of product support.
Quite honestly, This experience and the dismissive attitude I got from customer service.
Has ruined my interest in PCP air rifle shooting. Not so much the economy itself.
Now I am stuck with no way to do some small game hunting.
I don't mean to come off negative.
But this experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

Before I bought my Maverick, I checked on parts and schematics. Good to go.

When I bought my Notos, I did the same thing.

Nothing...

From thier, it's a choice. A pair of veneer calipers is under $20, a set of good drivers is $20.

I simply fixed any issues I had. You should do the same.

I wish I had done the same. I grew up on break barrels as a kid in the 1980's.
And I assumed that a company like Umarex would have at least offered a rebuild kit for their PCP air rifles.
Since O ring sets are the achilles tendon of any PCP air rifle.
I guess if I get back into PCP I will have to invest in calipers and drivers.
It just blew my mind that I could get no info or schematic for my Origin.
I never knew much about fixing PCP like I did a break barrel. I will assume fault for that.
But, I still feel like any PCP air rifle sold should come with a basic parts list or schematic.
So may I ask where did you find a good set of veneer calipers and driver?

Not to get political so I'll tone it down but, we live in a society that is hellbent on to "recycle for a better tomorrow" motto......Yet, we allow these manufacturers to build all kinds of cheap junk products with zero parts to repair said products. All the expense is passed onto the consumer.

Agreed 100%
If there is one thing I hate.
That is wastefulness.
Not even from a political stance.
I just grew up poor and had to fix things.
And seen countries in my travels where some people had nothing.
It is sad.

I'm sorry, I see orings as consumables. I've fixed so many leaks for so many customers that are angry just like you are but in the end, they will ALL fail in due time.

Nothing to get a bad taste about, it costs companies a huge sum to stock parts. I remember when the Thompson Center closed and we sat on 100k of Thompson parts.

Yes, any digital calipers with a metal track will serve to measure o-rings. I got mine from Grizzly.

I'm SUPER impressed with these drivers: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07QGZW57K?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

Appreciate the link bud. Thanks for helping.
I get a bad taste in my mouth not when O rings go bad. But when companies like Umarex refuse to provide any schematic or info on consumable parts as O rings.
And instead try to sell me off on their Gauntlet 2. That just don't sit right with me.
