Have all of those,you choose well, HW97 is great, mine is .22...my R-9 is .20....the 97 is heavier,you can feel it.

Is the beeman r9 /hw95 an all around springer?

So the consensus seems to be R9 in .177 cal. . Personally I'm not a hunter by any means and enjoy target shooting bench @ 50 yds and off hand more around 25 yds. Gave my .177 R9 to my son and now missing it, decisions... .177 or .22 for 50 yard target shooting.

Love .20 myself and yep, for now availability is an issue but variety isn't. The few still left are the cream of the crop, which means not many to test and at least in the 8 rifles I own, every one of them shoots at least 3 of them very well.

Honesty, I think it all comes down to realistic expectations with any caliber spring gun. If i can get to a 1" group with any of my guns i will be very happy with that as not easy w any gun. Seriously, that is seriously accurate w/ any gun. I'm talking bench shooting naturally.

I’m retired now and I shoot most every day. I just love shooting my 95 in .22 cal. My thoughts are that if you shoot often enough, the lower price of 177 pellets becomes an issue. Just saying

Great choice, congrats. My .177 hw97k has been on a lot of successful hunts. Mine is setup to shoot at 12fpe and is very capable out to 40 yards. Enjoy the new gun.

The 177 Hw97 works well at full power. Mine is cut down a tad to 14 and I'm pretty happy with it. Pellet fit and consistency is more important than power levels.

I own more powerful airguns, but my old R9 in 177 has killed a pile of crows, pigeons, squirrels, groundhogs, and ferral cats over the years. It's a great all around rifle.

I'd say try one if you can before buying. Wish I did. Sold my r9 within a couple months.

I bought mine as a 177 and later added a 22 barrel. I can’t decide which I like better.
Currently it is back to 177 with a 12 fpe kit installed.
I am tempted to buy a second one.

I have a new R9 (0.177 cal) coming from Airgun Depot later this week. The only break barrel I have is Benji Trail Nitro 2 in 0.22 cal and I've never been too happy with it. Lucky to get 1" at 25 yards with it. The trigger is horribly inconsistent with respect to the second stage

I finally got my HW95 shooting decent. It started as a .22 but would spray 5" groups at 20 yards with about every pellet. I even got it tuned by motorhead and it continued to behave that way.
Last week I put a .177 barrel on it, and immediately went and shot 3 nice groups of about half an inch at 25 yards. Looking forward to getting it broken in now!
