Is the Byrna an air gun?

Self defense and Home defense are not Airgun Nation approved topics.
A recent post asking about self defense air guns was shut down with only one response allowed and the reason being that air guns can’t be used for self defense. Please look up what a Byrna is…

A buddy of mine has one and takes it with him for self defense when he travels into New York state. He’s in his 70’s and travels there with his wife and disabled daughter. It’s practically impossible for an out of state’r (we live in Pennsylvania) to get a carry license in New York. Even pepper spray is regulated by size and amount of pepper spray making it close to worthless. For some reason they don’t restrict the Byrna. You can shoot solid balls and pepper spray filled balls. He has his shooting at a velocity of about 500fps after he made modifications.

We both have CCP’s for Pennsylvania and I’d never trade my powder burner for air where I’m allowed to carry said powder burner. But, in situations like the one above, they are the best available option for self defense. Please let this discussion continue…

Check the forum rules. NO discussion of airguns for self defense allowed. You can probably find an alternative self defense forum somewhere. Even asking nicely, this discussion won't continue.
