Is the fx impact the worst investment and resale values?

So we spending thousands on the fx impact. It comes stock at $2100-2199. Then we spend around another thousand on aftermarket. Then when it's time to resale, you cant even sell the impact at $1000 lmao. This is crazy. The fx impact imo is the worst value and resale gun of all time. With other guns you expect to take about 25-30% lose when resale. But the fx impact even over 50% loose it doesn't even sell. I've seen impacts mk1/mk2 with upgrades going for about $1050-1100 and they not selling at all. People spending near 3k (with upgrades) and can't even sell it back at $1000..smh. what the hell is going on here?????

I dunno, is any airgun an investment? It's a hobby that can be as expensive as you desire. Compared to Skout, Thomas, American Air Arms, the Impact looks like a decent bargain.

Not too long ago a new BSA R10 was around $1100, but used, you could barely get $5-600 for one, and they are stellar rifles.

The Impact is sort of the 10/22 of airguns with so many aftermarket parts. You can take a $250 10/22, add $1000 in custom parts and sell it used for $600, same deal as the impact.

Careful with such sentiments, lots of folks around here take offense very easily and will defend their brand and/or purchases to the bone.

Excuses to come...

"Airguns aren't investments"

"Its the friends you make along the way"

"You can't sell a half eaten steak for full price"

And things of that nature...

Personally I concur with your opinion, but I also don't think a brand new Impact is worth anywhere near list price, I have the coin, but I don't have an Impact ;)

The solution to your problem is easily solved. Buy a used one and hope no one has take a golden screwdriver to it.
I’ve bought used ones with good success also scopes. The thing is they all shoot better than I do. So……..I’ve got a lot of air rifles I don’t want to part with. And so many new ones coming out that won’t shoot better than what I got now.

As I mentioned elsewhere, the market has changed. When the first generation impacts came out, competition shooters used them in the first days of the EBR in Phoenix and won with them. That sparked a lot of interest and many people wanted one. The only thing here is that availability was scarce and dealers couldn't supply enough of them to satisfy the market demand. Then, newer mark numbers were introduced and successfully used by competition shooters further straining the supply chain. The result was that used guns commanded a pretty high price-usually 80 percent of the price of a new one. Well, now there are other makes that are challenging FX's dominance of the competition and demand has cooled and supply has increased. Soooo, used guns are selling for much less. That doesn't make them any less of a performer, but you know that buyers like to have the latest and greatest. That's called basic economics. Supply and demand. I have a rifle I've been trying to sell at around half the new price, but not much interest. One other thing is that there are more less expensive guns being introduced for very cheap prices and these guns are pretty good performers. Good enough for the non competitor.

For the average purchaser of a M3 or M4 there is no reason to spend another grand for aftermarket parts. The others, I think, they just caught up in the hype with how all the pro shooters rig theirs. They shoot just fine out of the box. My MKII might have a couple hundred dollars on it, if that and it shoots better than what I can shoot it. The other brands are the same way, buy stock and start bolting on parts.

People want the newer gun upgrades. Take other gun that have newer version's out,the older versions loss resale value if the newer version is better. It's all about what people want. The quick tune system is a success, so people don't want the older guns without it. M3s are holding value, but add ons, nobody wants to pay for. Same way with cars, people will pay for the newer stuff, older stuff losses value.

Dude, chill. Your comments are off base. Apparently you are frustrated or something, but those of us who know, know. Why post such a rant? As others have posted, there are expected costs associated with this hobby, and most people getting into it accept it, or learn very quickly what it entails. This applies to all makes and models. I hope you can understand this and rethink your post. The best to you.

My 2 panthera and impact m3 shoot so good,I'd be a fool to get rid of any of them, but thing is I believe all fx guns are really accurate,I've yet to get a liner that don't shoot rugged hole groups very far out. I want another impact m3,but there's guns like American air arms evol, brk ,and skout I have not tried yet. People say they are more accurate and better guns, but I doubt it.

No this isn't a rant. No I am not frustrated. I made this thread cause I see a lot of impact that cost 2k plus and they are being for sale on classified for as low as $1020 to $1100 for days and weeks and no one is buying them. I am concern that when I decide to sell my impact, it will be worth sht in the future and I will have a hard time selling it like everyone is having a hard time selling impacts right now. The classified is full of impacts and they don't get sold cause the impact is resale value is sht. If I remember correctly people agreed on resale of used gun should be around 25-30% off retail price. So the impact should be selling for at least $1400-1500 in used. But that's not the case. They having hard time selling even at $1000.

Ever tried to sell a vehicle that has been significantly modified and wanted 70% of the cost of the mods recouped?
Just like an Impact, that money ain’t coming back. It is not the fault of the Impact. It is unrealistic desires and expectations of the seller.
I am an Impact fan and if I see a bunch of mods done on used gun for sale I pass it up. Who did the work? What is their skill level? Bunch of performance crap in the gun? How hard have they been running it trying to be like Dubber?
Most maligned gun in the Industry that is coincidentally the most abused gun in the market.

You have to look at the sellers. Some only want local buyers. Others are first time sellers that nobody would want to deal with. Still, others want some weird payment I would not be comfortable with, especially since I don't know who they are. And worse some of these deals are too good to be true to the point its probably a scam, have you ever research some of these ads?
