Is the STOCK PANTHERA a Bit Underpowered?

Hey guys. I want to love this Pathera but I'm confused. I could not get it above 880 fps with 25.4gr ammo. That's a 4 on the Micro and 115bar on the reg. Turning the reg up does not increase the FPS. Turning it past 140 bar will begin to decrease FPS. No setting between 100 and 180 bar would get me over 700 fps without that micro wheel cranked to 3.5-4+.

My question: Does the Panthera require extra parts to achieve over 43 foot pond in .22 caliber? if so, what parts? A Tungsten hammer? anything else?

Has anyone achived power from this gun, "out of the box"? Is there some magic setting I skipped when I burned $20 worth of pellets? (not a fan of tuning).

I agree, tuning sucks, I always opt to use the cheapest available pellets for that purpose.

I can only speculate that the hammer is too light based on your info, could be another contributing factor that is currently hindering performance, but 880 FPS seems healthy. What is the barrel length on this version you're using? If its 500mm or less that is honestly quite expected (880 fps w/ 25.4 @ 115-120 bar).

It's a 600mm, the only problem is I can't seem to get above 880 fps no matter what, and my spring is maxed out at 4

Where is your power wheel set?
I have seen many posts here stating it does not matter, my thought is that 4 on the adjuster is different on PW setting 2 than it is on 16. Give it a try if your PW is set below 10. We may both learn something. I may find out my theory is all wet, but it can’t hurt to try it

The same thread with every FX gun Nate gets. (He hates tuning) heck of a teacher, doesn't know how to do it. Someone just spoon feed him a tune so he can write it into a script for a video on how tune a gun.

How to Turn Power Up in Stock FX PANTHERA .22 (Regulator Adjustment)?

How to you turn the power up, step by step, on a FX Pantera. In .22, it's shooting 18.1gr at 890 FPS, but its already on 23 on the power wheel (highest setting). The reg is at about 85 bar. I'm guessing I need to adjust the reg up? ...so I can shoot 25.4gr at 890. How do you safely adjust the...

There is no need to run high pressures and hammer strikes with this gun. The valve is designed to produce a very brief impulse of air. My 600-22 shoots the 32g Altaros at 900fps at 125bar with the hammer (micro) at 2.7. It’s very easy to make the mistake of guesstimating a reg/hammer setting based on previous experience with M3/Maverick and not realize that you can substantially reduce those metrics to get the same performance with a much less gnarly (and quieter) shot cycle.

The best way to find the “pussy cat” tune is to start out at 100bar (even if you think you’re projectile is too heavy for that) then run up the micro from 1.5 and find the speed plateau. Then, if lacking, increase by 10bar and repeat till you find the min pressure and HST that gives you the desired speed. I’ve experimented extensively and can tell you that, because of the way the valve operates, it doesn’t really matter if you’re running at the peak of the velocity curve or at the knee. I run very close to peak because it minimizes the impact of any reg creep or reg refresh inconsistency on shot speed. Finally, I’ll say (again from my experience) that there’s nothing to be gained by making minor adjustments to speed to find an “accuracy node”. If the Panthera doesn’t shoot your chosen slug accurately at a 98% HST tune then switch to another projectile.

At the risk of being a broken record, I’ve tuned six of em here to shoot the Alteros 32.3s at 890-900 and the owners are very happy campers.

TLDR - Panthera requires a back-to-basics tuning approach but is very forgiving once you find the min reg pressure for your projectile and the HST that shoots it at 98-99% of desired speed.

If you are shooting Altaros you can run this tune, I tested a bunch of zan slugs and I realize they do not shoot as well as the altaros but they would not fly well until my rifle hit 960-970 and that was not achievable with a tune like yours.

Well at least I could not, I will also say that it seems each panthera has its own likes and dislikes, more so than I have seen with other rifles, a lot of deviations in tunes between the same rifle but end up with similar or the same results.
