Is there a way to buy just the shroud for FX Impact?

Hello Everyone,

Recently purchased a compact impact and looking to get a 700mm heavy superior liner for it for using slugs when hunting coyotes. Not looking to change the caliber, just a different barrel. Is there a way to get jus the shroud form a dealer or will i have to spend the cash to get the whole barrel kit?

Thanks!

Paul

Hi Paul,

A shroud can be purchased from FX USA. You will just have to call in or email our customer service and express your wishes to purchase only the shroud. Our email is [email protected], or you can call in at (866) 639-0772 between 9 am – 4 pm EST.

I call a dealer few days ago I wanted the 700mm superior barrel kit and they told me I have to order the barrel kit that comes with the smooth t x and order the superior liner separate. That sucks $110 more.

What barrel do you have now? If you want to go from 600mm to 700mm you just need to source an extension (not available from FX) for your original barrel liner housing and then add the liner you want. Buying a whole barrel kit to change length is kinda crazy and expensive. Maybe FX will make extensions available soon so that their customers don't have to waste money buying full barrel kits.

I extended my .22 from 600mm to 700mm, added a slug liner and it shoots great.

Hi

If I didn't misunderstand you need a "barrel housing + slug liner"

Mine has the solid smooth twist no liners. I have the .22 500 mm and .25 600mm I want to shoot slugs..I don’t know if is any place where I can bu the barrel with the liner of my choice or I have to buy the one that I want separately..

I'm in the same boat. I have a 25 cal Compact looking to get the pieces needed to go to 700. It looks like there are a few pieces needed, such as the jam nut on the crown side, stainless sleeve on the breach side, which ties in with the transfer port. You probably want to get the carbon sleeve from Ernest at 910 Airguns to put over the 700mm liner so your not dealing with the o-rings on the liner, and you might as well pick up a dual transfer port from Ernest at 910 while your there getting the carbon sleeve. Not sure if you actually need the shroud or not, but I supposed you could get one of those as well from FX. I'm going to call FX on Monday and see what it would cost to get all these parts. I reached out to Ernest last night and asked him about the best approach as I didn't want to do a barrel kit well...he told me getting the barrel kit with a heavy liner is the best way forward.

So called Utah Airguns and Contacted FX USA. They both say the best way to go forward was buying a barrel kit as well as the heavy pellet liner as they will not switch out the liners for me and have to get the heavy liner separately. This close to $600 dollars total. If I am get the carbon shroud, carbon sleeve and transfer port from Ernest at 910 then basically all i need is the metal barrel that holds the liner, the two stainless steel screws (one for the breach one for the crown) plus all the associated o rings.

Does anyone know where I can get these parts?

Thanks,

So others understand there is an option to order the parts needed to get a liner to work. I just emailed FX service with this parts list, and they gave a quote for the parts below. With the parts and liner's cost, you invested for under $250, so far more affordable than getting a barrel change kit AND heavy liner. Keep in mind my parts list is for a 600mm 25 cal superior heavy liner that I'm looking to purchase, so modify the part numbers as needed by your requirements by using the X-Barrel diagram on the FX Support website, also the parts list doesn't include the brass transfer port as I am getting the dual transfer port from Newman over at 910 Airguns, so don't forget that part if you just want the regular transfer port. Here are the parts you will need:

Barrel Attachment 25 - 19962
O-Ring 10 x 2 NBR 70 - 19703
O-Ring 9 x 1 NBR 70 (3) - 19954
Barrel Housing 550mm - 19972
Liner Lock .25 - 19970

I hope this helps some of you guys out. It's what I'm proceeding with.

Sir, you are a gentleman and a scholar. Many Thanks!

No problem, happy to help. Just also keep in mind that the shroud isn't part of this list as I was going to do the carbon barrel tensioner from Newman over at 910 Airguns as well. The shroud requires a few additional parts. I attached the PDF where the barrel and impact are all broken out into one file for convenience.

So I reached out to FX USA and they said that they can sell me all the parts except for the barrel attachment as this is their “warranty part” and they will not sell it separately from a barrel kit. Ok I get it they wanna make some money but the fact that they won’t even let me buy a barrel kit with the heavy slug liner and have to get that separately is bullpoop. Also not even mentioning that the barrel kit and the slug liner together costs more than a Glock or building an AR. Honestly if I knew there would be so difficult about this I would have never gotten the impact in the first place as the main reason was for getting it was the ability to mod the gun.

Maybe FX can comment since they are active in these threads?
