As I mentioned in another post, I got a Ruger Air Hawk from Midway for $44. It was reconditioned and It looked brand new with zero signs of being anything but NIB. For $25 you aint out much if its a dud!!

It's $24.95 actually, and it's a clearance/refurb, so the discount doesn't qualify. I tried. I even added a tin of .177 pellets to get it over $25.

OK, I put 10 pellets through the gun, no adjustments made of any kind. I'm only shooting the length of my porch in the back, so it's only about 15-20 feet. The 10 pellets were in a group about 1.5" around shooting from my shoulder, not bench rest. It's easy to pump, not too loud, VERY light. It feels cheap though. Everything that doesn't need to be made out of metal is plastic. Not that it is a poor gun, just it doesn't feel solid. For $25, it's probably best suited to setting next to the back door for opportunistic picking off squirrels and such.

I'm pretty impressed with this gun actually. I wasn't expecting much for $25. I moved my target out to about 10yards and used some sandbags and it is pretty consistent. It isn't a sniper rifle, but for $25 it will kill a rat or squirrel just as well as anything else.

I finally had a chance to put some more pellets through this gun. It was dusk, the wind was kicking up, smoke from brush fires nearby was getting pretty thick,but I still managed an impressive (to me) 10-shot group. This is 10 shots at about 10 yards, open sights, not bags or bench rests. For shooting rats, this will do nicely I think.

Put a scope on the gun tonight and the results are...meh. One might even say it's worse. Definitely not what I'd call an improvement.

I've been working on the scope and it's getting better. It's about the same as the open sights now. I think that the mounting rail on this gun is not the best quality and things are moving around. It's all made out of plastic. I tightened everything and let it set for a bit and it seemed to settle down.

Being that inexpensive it would be a fun one to work on. Drill and tap for a metal scope base if the existing base is cheap and insecure
