Just got my new Benjamin 392 and I may have a problem. When I raise the pump arm to pump it, it makes a little hiss, a 'pfff' sound. Is this normal? I really don't want to have to return it! It does make the pfff sound even on the first pump before it even has air compression. Any advice would be very much appreciated.
Is this a leak?

Sounds like air rushing into the 'vacuum' created by pulling the plunger out past the weep hole. So... A good thing.

My 880 Powerline makes the same sound when pumping . I think it's just the air drawing into the pump .

When you pump be sure to fully extend the handle and pause a moment while fully extended before closing for each and every pump.

Thanks for the quick replies. I'm happy to hear that all is well. Since I don't have a chronograph yet, I did some penetration tests. With an Air Arms 18gr dome pellet it went straight through a full 1 gal milk jug. So all and all I'm very happy with this rifle!
