Is this an adjustable scope mount?

I've never given much thought to scope rings or mounts but ended up with this mount and am not quite sure of the thinking behind the design. Can anyone identify the make and how it works? It has a scope stop pin which won't work for the application I'm thinking of. I'm wondering if I should I just grind it off or should I really keep it intact and find the right application for it - whether it's me or someone else.

The ring bases screw off and there are pointed set screws that hold the split "nut".

Thanks, tinker

Yes, that is a Sun Optics (formerly B-Square) adjustable mount. The gimbal in the center allows it to adjust for both elevation and windage. For obvious reasons, they don't like rough handling, bumping the scope, etc. Otherwise they do work. Be careful not to overtighten and strip out the grub screws.

Here's a how-to I drafted up back about 10 years ago.

Yes...
I believe B-Square made it.... Because I use rings that adjust the same way...

First, if you have examine the parts... the collar in the scope ring is split and has dimples to locate the cone set screw in the rings
So if you just loosen those cone set screws....don't remove them
With no scope mounted, you can turn the rings to adjust for elevation!
Then loosening one side grub screws and screw in the opposite screw, you can adjust for windage.
Then once you are finished adjusting, tighten both screws equally. This will lock the windage and elevation adjustment!!!

Ihave this exact mount… came with a RWS54/I purchased used at auction… the top ring halves are missing. Be interested if yours is also missing too… and if you know where to find replacements

I have this mount too…love to see how it works and to get missing parts…
Can’t retrieve the pdf file… possible to just post it without going to the dropbox? Thanks

Sorry, the forum doesn't appear to support attachments, and a copy/paste completely garbles it to point of being useless.

Dropbox is about as universal a way to share files as there is. Maybe try from a different computer. I just opened it from both a Windows PC and an Apple iPhone.

It is indeed a BSquare adjustable. The single most ornery mount known to man. I had several early on and ended up giving each away or selling with guns. Very finicky and without loctite, doesnt tend to stay where you set it.
I will most likely follow your example… not going to expend anymore efforts to rehap that mount…

break: anyone monitoring this post want mine… unknown lineage, missing only the parts that holds a scope

Agree with post #10

There's a split ring in there that needs to be positioned in a certain way or you'll crack the ring. Guess how I found out.

Too many little adjustment screws on this mount.

Plus with most two piece adjustable scope mounts, if you don't know what your are doing, you can put too much stress on your scope tube. Best to stick with a one piece adjustable scope mount.

Wished Sportmatch or another scope mount company would come out with an adjustable (elevation and windage) risers (with Picatinny rails).

A few more views would be cool but.....it's 'intereting' that said I don't have a clue what it is. Hope someone does.
What you have is a fully adjustable scope mount. The screws on the base which move the steel ring adjusts windage , elevation is set by screwing the ring up and down. Set your scope to optical center, then sight in by adjusting the rings. These are very handy. Once you've got it signed in, make sure to snug all screws and check sight in. Some small turret clicks as needed. TIP: If you're moving the front ring to move the poi to the right, turn the left base scew in to move the ring to the right . The left screw will need to be backed of to make room for the bushing to move . If you have trouble message me. Great find. Had one for years, finally wore out. Bill and Addi.

Forgot to tell you, they were made for springers. That's why the pin. Overcomes barrel droop, so no need for drop compensating rail.
