The watch-dog... doing what watch-dogs do.
Friends,
Apologies for not getting this match report out sooner. Unfortunately, due to a continuing barrage of semi-emergencies

Nine shooters contested LAST Saturday’s TEXtreme Bench-Rest Silhouette matches, shooting a total of 23 scorecards in our three classes in chilly, ever-tricky winds. Thankfully the temperature rose as the matches wore on, at times the winds as well.
Five shooters contested the (100 foot-pound limit) Slug class, in which, as usual, the high score of the day was posted. Derrick Wall’s awesome 37/40 put him well clear of not only the rest of his class, but all shooters in all classes. Derrick shot an Athlon Cronus scoped .22 Scout Evo, pushing slippery 40 grain Altoros slugs 900 FPS for the coveted Match Winner hat-pin. He also nabbed a ten-in-a-row rams pin. Fantastic shooting, Derrick!
New to Bench-Rest Silhouettes, Greg Surber came second in Slug Class with an excellent 32/40 score, also winning a ten-in-a-row rams pin. Greg used an Athlon-scoped Brocock Ghost, shooting the same Altoros 40 grain slugs; albeit only 890 FPS. Excellent shooting, Greg!
As usual, the 100 Foot Pound (pellet) class attracted the most entrants; nine shooters shooting a dozen score-cards. Unless I’m mistaken, in the best performance of her relatively short airgun competitions experience Susan Gehrig whipped all those boys!

Susan’s fine 34/40 was a relatively comfortable Match Winner margin, especially considering who came second. Susan shot a Sightron S6 scoped .25 Daystate Delta Wolf, firing 29.5 grain AEA pellets 955 FPS to capture the 100 FP Class Match Winner hat-pin. Great shooting, Susan!
Derrick Wall’s 32/40 was good for second place. And although Match Winner hat-pins are the only placement awards in our BRS competitions, DW nevertheless managed to add two more hat-pins to his trophy shelf…I mean, trophy case… I mean, trophy room… I mean, trophy museum by nabbing ten-in-a-row pigs and rams hat-pins with his 100 FP Pellet gun. Correction- with his same Athlon Cronus scoped Scout Evo, but with a .30 caliber barrel; no small trick considering he had to swap the barrels back and forth to shoot each of four different kinds of silhouette animals. For better perspective, that entails not only four barrel/caliber swaps during the course of the 40 shot match, but scope settings for each barrel at four different distances. Suffice to say DW was the airgun competition equivalent of a one-man band all match-day.

NEVER MIND!
Three shooters contested the 35 Foot Pound (pellet) class; just enough to award a Match Winner hat-pin. Jim Clarke captured that with a 19/40 score, shot with his Hawke scoped .22 Daystate Red Wolf shooting 18 grain Air Arms pellets 930 FPS. Good shooting, Jim.
Happy Shooting Y’all,

Ron & Maggyy
