Jerked around on the classifies!

Getting sick of it. The classifieds need new rules.
1st- Don't talk a guy down on price and not take it.
2nd- Asking where to send $$ several times and not send it.
3rd- Don't say you will "Take it" and not pay.
Its getting to the point where I am about to yank all my stuff off here and never come back. I have been selling and buying stuff on here for years and it has changed for the worst. Quit wasting my time!

Oh calm down and relax.

If someone doesn't send you money then sell it to someone else. It's easy as that.

Same goes with the tire kickers and stupid people, just ignore them or block them. Simple as that.

I'd you don't want people to offer lower than what your asking.....well don't sell anything then. I'd you are so upset about people trying to negotiate then maybe selling things isn't for you. People are ALWAYS going to try and get a deal. You can't take everything so personally.

Ignore, block, or delete.

Hello @Jammin22

I agree with you 100%. These "goobers" that make a lower offer and when you accept the offer, the Goobers disappear should be banned from the Forum. They surely do not reflect the true spirit of the membership.

Have thought about giving them bad feedback? If you've struck a deal and they back out, it seems to be a logical repercussion.

Or you can go to an auction site like Gunbroker. Of course you'll have to pay fees, and someone may still back out.

Or you can wait for one of the airgun shows to sell face to face

I sell a lot on other marketplaces, I deal with this all the time. It's human nature to want to strike a deal, so as a seller that offers fair and often lower prices than market average, it generally strikes a nerve with me as well.

Generic respones:

Them: "Whats your lowest price"
Me: "What is your highest offer?"

Them: "Can you do 1,000$? (on a 1,600$ item)"
Me: "Sure can"
Them: "Awesome where do you want to meet, ect"
Me: "*crickets*"

Jammin, I hear ya. I’ve experienced every scenario you’ve mentioned. Typically anything I post for sale is “taking a beating priced”. I try to price so it’s desireable to the buyer. But sometimes it’s an item that’s not highly in demand or is useable by a very small buyers group and I’ll do what I have to so it gets sold or decide to keep it. As mentioned, it’s just in some folks DNA to get a lower price than posted. Oh well.
Craigslist is the absolute worst place to sell anything. One time I had some suitcase sized Pelican cases on Craigslist for a very good price. Some clown offered me nearly half of what I was asking. Ridiculous. He emailed back a few days later with an offer a couple dollars more. He pissed me off. I told him they went to the local landfill that morning because I wanted them out of the garage and dealing with his lowball offer wasn’t worth my time. He calls me from the landfill and was looking for them. 😂😂 He said the guy at the gate doesn’t remember seeing the cases. They were still in my garage and a few days later sold at my asking price to someone else that saw what a deal they were. 😂😂🤣

While I get your frustration, your reaction seems a bit over the top.

Consider yourself lucky you aren't posting them on the FB marketplace thats full of scammers and bots. I post stuff there, clear great descriptions and my location. The scammers, many times from other countries start off following the same script: where are you located, what its condition where can I send the money so I can have my brother/cousin pick it up etc. Its a waste of time and worse than anything here you'll experience.

You get it with tire kickers in person too. Take a deep breath and relax. Theres better things to get upset about.

His reaction is fine, not over the top. Let the man vent.

"The straw that broke the camels back"

You have no clue how many straws the man is/has been carrying, so chill.

I’ve been scam attempted so many times on craigslist it ain’t funny. It’s easy to spot by their sentence structure. I love it. I will engage them for days. Always involves a very very generous shipping arrangement to make it a sweeter deal for the seller. I end with telling them funds will be in gold boullion in person at my cities police station parking lot. No takers yet.
I love telephone scammers the best, especially when driving with the hands free speaker. I challenge myself to see how long I can keep them lickin’ their chops because they’ve got a live one on the hook. They generally take a dim view when I insult their mother for how she raised them. Drives my wife nuts. It’s all good.

They generally say "My cousin/brother/uncle is going to pick it up, give me your details so I can wire/zelle you the money now"

To which I reply, cash in hand only, wire / zelle the money to your cousin/uncle/brother.

Sometimes they reply with "Oh he/she doesn't have a bank account..."

Then I reply, well tell them to open one, takes minutes?

Really easy to stonewall those scammers with logic because any scam relies on illogical individuals.

My personal Buy/Sell thought . It is used , it is worth 1/2 of new . 2/3 at the most.
The hardest thing I’ve had to sell is a rifle I haven’t used much. If I’ve used it and kept it in good shape, I feel I got my money out of it and more easily set a lower price.

Lesson, shoot the rifles you buy regularly and keep them in good shape.

Have you been reading my FB interactions with the scammers? I mean its literally almost word for word the same, including my responses lol.

I told him they went to the local landfill 😂😂🤣
Funny story... I lived near a landfill when I was a kid and would ride my dirt bike in there after it closed for the day. People would have yard sales and throw away the items that didn't sell. I picked up a coin collection priced at $2. The face value of the US coins inside was $38.

From my experience as sellers we have to develop thick skin and patients.

One thing that still will send me to a land of ticked off is the "whats the lowest you will go" as the first message. I just respond to that with "what is the most you will pay?"
Perfect response

I feel your frustration! An "I'll take it" & backing out constitutes the breaking of a contract. There should be a "ding" on someone's reputation for doing it & expulsion if they do it enough. More work for administration but better for members if we knew who could be counted on making for a more secure atmosphere on the forum!
