Joe B Guppy 18cuft vs. AirHog 14cuft tank

I'm looking to buy a small backpack air tank. I've narrow down to the Guppy 18cuft and AirHog's 14cuft.

The Benjamin tank is priced higher and Air Venturi's output is only 2,900 psi. 

Besides the air volume and price. How would the quality and backpack ability compare between the two.

Any personal experience with these two products will be greatly appreciated. 
 
The Benjamin Tanks I would stay away from as there were multiple problems with the Benjamin labeled tanks. I don't do business with airhog, so have no comment on their products other than they have had some hose failures recently. I only buy from Joe B and have never had any issues. His stuff is the highest available quality and I would recommend nothing but his products.

If you have the money, JoeB's stuff is top-notch. You pay for it though. I've never heard ANYONE say that they didn't get a good product from Joe. I have however heard multiple people say that they felt they paid too much for what they got from Joe. If you're a DIY type, you might be able to do it yourself for MUCH less money but it will take longer and won't look as good. I've had good service from Joe and from AirHog, so I don't think you'll be disappointed with either.

I decided and ordered an AirHog 14 cuft. Thanks to the forum member's feedback they upgraded the hose to an armor coated version for free. 

I'm sure Joe B's tanks are very good and possibly better. However I'm looking for something reasonable and still meet my needs.


It came down to two determine factors.

1. I must admit his price is higher than the other competition. The other companies (not AirHog however) also offer discount codes that gives you 10-20% off with free or minimium shipping fee.

2. Joe B's 18cuft does look bigger on some videos I've seen. This may make it much more difficult for an all day backpack hunting trip. 

I'll let you guys know how the quality is when it get here. There about 3.5hrs from me so it might show up tomorrow.

I recently picked up one of the AirHog 14cuft tanks. The quality seems to be pretty good, packaging was great, and email communication was good. I would recommend picking one up while they are on sale.

As far as Joe B goes, I bought some stuff from him in the past and he sent me a bad stripped fitting. When I sent him an email with a picture asking to take care of it, he never replied. Over a year later when I was shopping for a small tank I emailed Joe about a Guppy tank, he replied to my email within about 20 minutes about the Guppy tank inquiry. So I replied and told him if he took care of the bad fitting I would buy another tank from him, and once again he never replied. Joe B has lost all of my business going forward.

This is how the fitting arrived when I got it. He wanted me to try to install it but it would have stripped and ruined my brass fitting so I didn't bother trying. I thought I was the only person who has had this happen, but someone on the talon forum mentioned the exact same thing. Not to mention he rips you off at $30 for a fitting that should be $10-15.

Just got my 14cuft from AirHog. The sale person was knowledgable and answered all my questions so Customer service is 5 out of 5.

Package was individually wrapped and secured with packaging tape. Any open space was filled with paper. 

Full installation instruction included.

Tank's thread and oring was pre-lubed and covered with masking tape.

Valve feels solid and has good weight. Knob feel secure and easy to turn.

Din, hose (upgraded armor coated) and foster fitting looks and feel better than the supplies you normally see at paintball or scuba shops. 

5 out 5 on product with this sales price.

I would definitely recommend this AirHog tank to anyone. I believe I've made the right choice with price and quality for to meet my needs.

RomeoAlpha I had a similar fitting issue but never reported it to Joe. In my case it was a male to male foster that came as a male thread and female threaded portion that were galled and locked into each other. I found out because I did not need the male to male foster and decided to use them separately. If they had been taped no problem would have occurred but no tape was used. I also think Joe is TOO High Priced!

I bought me a little football size Omega tank from PA , The gauges failed after six months, So I ordered new gages from Joe that cost as much or more than my tank,
There the same ones on my Great white tank, But there good gages LOL,
The Omega gages really are bad, Mine were anyway,
How does that saying go, You get what you pay for,,,
and I am a big cheap as****

I have purchased a few hoses and a small 14cf tank from Air Hog ... everything works as ordered ---- plus ---- NO UP SELLING ----- they have a clean online store with prices. "IF" you have a question you can call. AirHog gets all my PCP business.
