This post may be somewhat long winded but I think all the info is important when it related to negative feedback. Hopefully this is useful to someone else along the way.

Purchased: FX Wildcat MKI

Initial communication with JPBrewer was great. He stated the gun shot 18.1gr JSB at around 900fps and the gun was in outstanding condition. He also mentioned he had resealed the entire gun based on age and shipped it the same day as payment.

I had mentioned to him that I lived out in the country far from town, so when I noted he had opted for 21 and over signature required service I let him know what a struggle this would be for me. The nearest hub is one hour from my house and I work when they are open. I notified JP so he might choose a different service next time and moved on. Luckily, my wife stayed home the following day so she could sign for the box (she’s awesome). Without telling me anything that day JP had the box held at the UPS location that I told him was one hour from my house. I contacted him and luckily he was able to have it released for delivery again.

Upon first inspection of the gun it appeared to be in as advertised condition. However, on the first shot I noted air leaking out from around the pellet probe. I informed JPBrewer of the issue but luckily he had sent some extra o-rings along with the gun and he assured me it was fine before he shipped it. I replaced the o-ring and ended up removing the stock in the process where I noted the forward rail anchors were installed in a way that caused them to rub and interfere with the air tube. I also noticed the trigger linkage pins were half out on each clevis and asked him if he had removed these parts. He said he had reseated them once and that was all. I also noted the cocking lever was somewhat loose and did not click into position as most of my previous FX guns had. At this point I was starting to see a lot of signs that this gun had been tinkered with beyond what I thought originally. I told JPBrewer I was disappointed about the condition to which he responded that he had “bent over backwards” for me (probably related to the shipping issue) and that I got a good deal and that he would not accept a return for a refund. He offered me $30 following the refund refusal and was adamant the gun had zero problems before he shipped it. I told him I’d give the gun the benefit of the doubt and shoot it the following weekend to see how it was and decide from there.

When I first shot it over the chrony with 18.1gr JSB’s it was doing 820fps. I checked the hammer spring adjustment and it had been turned all the way in. This raised several red flags for me and I checked the rest of the gun over to find mildly stripped out fasteners and a damaged air tube end cap. I relayed all this information to JPBrewer but have not received any response to date. I am currently suspicious that the cocking linkage was adjusted which has caused the probe port to be misaligned from the transfer port. Since I likely have no choice but to keep the gun I will disassemble it at some point to see what all was damaged or adjusted improperly.

In this situation I think a refund is entirely appropriate based on the fact that he had knowledge of some of these issues and failed to mention them at all.
