I am shooting up all my JSB .22 pellets and going to hollow points ,
Why? Because I also shoot with 25 cal pellets and I need more pow.
I am shooting 22 and 25 Cal Crickets , 25 in JSB 25.39gr.
I am shooting 35 to 48 yards and with the 22 its like , Did I hit the sparrow , or the Euro dove takes flight.
With the 25 , No question pop, Its a hit, just the sound tells me,
Looking for a 22 hollow point that will give me the pop.
But first I have a lot of 22 JSB pellets I have to go through to start buying the hollow point pellet to sight in for the POP.
But I got the feelers out there looking,
Oh yes I hear the polymag people, screaming, LOL.
Mike Love the sound of the 25 pop.

22 cal pellets should not have any trouble bringing down birds with JSB dome pellets. In fact, 177 cal pellets easily take down birds even over 100 yards. Look at some of Matt Dubber videos to see. He posted a video of a 156 yard hit on a bird with a 22 cal and the bird dropped without flapping. Maybe you're just missing and knocking off a few feathers.

Here ya go. He uses 18 and 15.9 gr pellets

Hey guys, I have been out of the loop airgun wise for some 12+ years, going out tomorrow for some starlings, but a question.

In .22 cal, how does the Crosman Premier do with game the size of pigeon and ground squirrel. I have LOTS of CP's from back in the day, and really don't want to be spending more $ on ammo .....Also have a few bricks of Beeman.22 Kodiaks ... how are they in a Hatsan 95 Vortex gun ?

Well I went out and shot some targets with iron sights at 50 to 55 yards with CPHP's using my Hatsan Vortex 95 in .22. I got to tell you if there were any starlings, ground squirrels around they would have been toast. That pellet got there very quick, flat shooting and blew apart when it hit the cement target I was shooting at.

I used to get ground squirrels with my FWB 124 sporter using .177 silver jets all the time. My Marksman #55 in 177 will knock the stuffing out of starlings, blue jays, grackles in a heartbeat.

I remember hunting with my FWB and NEVER having an issue with hitting 'em or hearing the smack when I did hit them.

Your JSB pellets should just knock the stuffing out of whatever you hit, I would like to hear more on your shooting endeavors.

I have used hollow points in my .177 (WAS that gun's favorite pellet for awhile). They chrony'd at just under 925 FPS (average), and were very accurate out to about 35 yards before accuracy started suffering. The only real advantage I have found is that when shot fast enough, they may not "over penetrate," at least not on squirrel. I used domes exclusively now, in all my guns. They typically do enter and exit, but they also turn the lights out when I do my part, (typically) have more consistent accuracy, and more variety in their weight. They also usually make a loud "thud" when my aim is on. I would only really suggest switching to hollow points in the somewhat unlikely event they are the most accurate pellet at the ranges you're intending to use them.

Just nocked a ugly loud sparrow in the back of the head at 40yds and it was twice as loud as my rifle. I was actually quite surprised as its only its second kill.

Maybe you should try the new heavies or the H&N Crow Magnums. They are 18.12 (HN's) and lay some serious smack down too. I just ordered another 1600 of them as they do really well for me out to about 75yds.

Nice, nice ..... the big advantage with a PCP besides the lack of recoil is the speed you guys can get. My new Hatsan Vortex Edge is getting 770fps with Piranha's ... not to bad for a small gun, but I'm shooting pellets in the 14.3gr range not 18.1gr range and that is a huge difference.

I'm looking at PCP's, sort of waiting for the New Hatsan Bull pup ;- )
