Would anyone of you that understand about coeficients could tell me please which of these two options in. 25 Cal would in theory be better in terms of efficiency against wind?
Thanks.
Thanks.
Thanks a lot.!!!100% the 34gr JSBs have the theoretical (and very likely practical) advantage in the wind.
I have roughly the same velocity profile out of my AA S510 and the 34gr pellets vastly outperform the 25.4gr Kings
I only have meassured my rifles as close as possible to the barrel.... The speeds I am talking about are with the same rifle at the end of the barrel first with the 25.4 grain and the next shot with the 34 grain pellet. I am no so experience in how to measure ballistics.I’m guessing the speed you’ve posted is the first measured velocity?
In order to accurately answer your question and determine BC, a velocity measured further down range will have to be known.
Example: MV @ 25 yards & MV @ 50 yards.
I am in the same team of shooters !@Emu I don’t calculate BCs or dial turrets. I just shoot, monitor velocity, change hammer spring and reg settings until I find a desirable shot string stats. I shoot 34 grain pellets 50-100 yards from a .25 Brocock Bantam Sniper HR in the mid-800s. They handle the wind well in my experience. I shoot from a tripod and I’m not much of a precision shooter. They group ok for my abilities.
Yes. I weigh the pellets into groups of similar weights, then run each pellet through a PelletGage for head size. My guns aren't too sensitive to which head size, but by keeping them in batches of same head size helps prevent fliers to a degree. This is why I can get such small groups. I used to do the same with powder burner bullets as well.@rsfrid Nice group. What does the “6.38 HS” correspond to in your notes? Is that the head size of a group of sorted pellets?
I do not sort pellets.
Rsfrid, a moment ago I tried to shoot at one of your targets. It is just imposible for me to focus on them. I just do not see correctly. My Maverick is tuned 34 grainers at 938fps with ES of 7.0 and STD Dev of 2.1 and does way better at 50 and 100 in stiff breezes than the same rifle with 25 grainers. I retuned for the 34 grainers because of this.
Not sure what you mean. I have no trouble seeing my targets at either 25 yds or 50 yards.Rsfrid, a moment ago I tried to shoot at one of your targets. It is just imposible for me to focus on them. I just do not see correctly.
With my targets I see where to aim.
Print some of my targets and you will make much better groups. It is much easier!!
I do !!! …..Not sure what you mean. I have no trouble seeing my targets at either 25 yds or 50 yards.
Then use yours. I don't see the problem. Use what works for you. I use a 40x Athlon scope and it works fine for me.I do !!! …..
At my targets I can see the tips of the crosses as a target and also the center at 100 yards.
The official targets like yours are for me impossible to know where to aim.
