JSB Exact Heavy .177 cal 10.34gr ? Change ?

Hello everyone,

I was down to 4 JSB Exact Heavy .177 cal 10.34gr pellets in a Tin and put them in a magazine and then opened a new Tin. I started to fill the magazine when I noticed that the new pellets looked different from the previous 4 from the Skirt view. Now I wish that I had saved the first four because I don’t have any of the “original” to compare the new ones with.

Anyway I had been shooting a 25-Yard MOA target and after filling the magazine I continued to shoot the target. First four shots all within the MOA Ring, and then the rest of my shots were all over the target. A few within the MOA Ring but the rest were all outside.

I am attaching two photos of the “new pellet” and wonder if anybody happens to have any of the older version and can take a photo like my two for a comparison.

Has anybody herd if JSB has changed the 10.34? I sure hope not I just bought 5 Tins and the old style have been extremely accurate.

I've seen that happen before. Apparently, JSB changed dies because the old ones were worn out. The new tools had a bit of a different profile.
Hello @jps2486

I figured something like that. The "ole" / "original" were shooting lasers for me and I turned in a card today ( see attached ) and the POI's are all over the place.

Hello @beerthief ,

Note all the little imperfections around the bottom of the Skirt???? They sure don't shoot very good

just a thought , try 400 grit sand paper and carefully sand a few off and shoot with smooth skirts . Not suggesting you sand 1000 , just a few and see ? let us know if ??

I bought a 10 tin lot about a year ago!
Think they do look slightly different!
These have been very accurate 🎯 View attachment 351132
Hello @ChuckHunter

Thank you. The Skirt on yours is thinner, it looks like the "bowl" below the Skirt is different and the straight tunnel from the Bowl toward the head is not as deep as on what I have.

EDIT: looking closer your Bowl looks to be a tad bit deeper.

Thanks again,

Ahh the wonderful world of jsb.. Lol

This unfortunately seems to be all too common as of late with them.. I guess they really do Not owe us as the consumer the heads up of a design, die, material, whatever, change anymore.

I have personally gotten to the point of when i run out of my jsb pellets i just order FX .
So far they actually shoot just a tick better in Most of the guns i run them in.

I know people say they are made by jsb, but if you look at, lets say the 18.13gr, you will definitely see a difference between the 2 pellets, slap a mic to them and the difference is quite obvious....

Hello @bfloyd1095

Don't know if you have seen any of my post but the old stuff was SCARY accurate. Man  this hurts.

Thank you,
ThomasT

Might play around with hammer spring some and get them dialed in! Sometimes just a little speed adjustment will do the trick. Can't hurt anyway! 😉
Hello @ChuckHunter

Here is a target I shot the other day with the GOOD OLD STUFF.

I know amigo, it's a bummer, and a little heart breaking to do all the work involved in dialing up a gun, especially in .177, finally get it just right with "that" projectile, only to have something like this happen that is out of your control..

Trust me i feel your pain!!

found what 3 of my guns like the same pellet and bought two cases , same batch .
P.S. my wife asked if i had bought another gun , i said no just some pellets . I got "that look " .
Hello @beerthief ,

I will get your wife to send those cases to me :ROFLMAO:

I just set up a target at 10-meters and you can see the POI is a bit off center and the holes are ragged??? The pellet is spiralling OK and I shot it into a 2x4 and a good clean hole???

Can't shoot anymore it has started to rain.

Agree there is a big change with that new batch you got.

Some older JSB 10.34

These newer JSB actually look more like the H&N 10gr Barracuda Match I have from the back, although they maintain the JSB profile in the flat waist:

Hello @ctshooter

Wow one of those has a real thin skirt and no tunnel. This is frustrating when the different pellets shoot so differently. I haven't tried any other pellet in my Brocock but guess I will now.
