JTS, AEA, JSB , H&N

Currently many feel JTS - AEA are out performing JSB and H&N and so forth. Issue for me is the lead configuration because I shoot atomics/ hades for pest work. The JSB/FX domes match the best with the guns current tune. If JTS made a hades equivalent, maybe I’d look into it.
I have tried all of the above in all my rifles. I still end up back with JSB for consistency. AEA is close, but not quite there. They are more expensive, but it's worth it in the long run.

The opinions that AEA and JTS are outperforming JSB is only a subset of pellet uses. (Specifically long range).

Take a look at AAFTA and WFTF results and you'll see that hardly anyone is using anything other than JSB.
Likely because they have hoards of the old batch of JSB.

They kinda do! Those semi domes hit like a truck on small game and pest birds. I still think JSB has a better lead composition and expand better at lower volosities.

More so because they're not shooting the JSB pellet with the most problems: the .22 Monster RD in those sub20 and sub12fpe field Target disciplines.

Pretty trendy right now to say JSB quality has gone down, but that's painting with a pretty broad brush when considering how many varieties they offer and how few of those varieties have issues.

The .22 Monster RD has certainly suffered from flyers, more so in later years than when it was introduced.

The .22/18.13 is hit or miss, but has been for a long time, good tin, bad tin.

The OTHER JSB variants that I enjoy in large quantities don't have those flyer problems. Those would be the....
.22/13.43
.22/14.3
.22/15.89
.20/13.73
.20/15.89
.177/7.87
.177/8.44
.177/10.34
And alot of those have been recent purchases, not old stock.

As I initially said in this topic, AAFTA and WFTF guys are shooting almost entirely JSB. Yes, random non-JSB shooters here and there, but the other 98% are sticking with what wins.

The shift to non-JSB is because those other companies now have better BCs in the big heavy stuff (mostly .30). And we hear about that a lot from the shooters of those long range product showcase/exhibition matches (EBR/RMAC/PA Cup).

I keep stacking H&N Barracuda Match .22 in groups of less than an inch at 45 yards with a Hatsan Barrage. All for $7.99 per 200 pellet tin. Maybe the others would be 1/2 inch stack but they cost at least double.

My Niksan Ozark is better than the Barrage with the H&N but it REALLY likes the heavier JTS Takedown 25.39. They are my pest removal pellet. The local squirrel population were not fans.

I think we are talking about casual shooting vs competition.

I shoot tons of Armscor 40gr .22lr for casual shoots but switch to Ely for competition.

I like AEA & JTS much better than JTS for casual shoots.

That "casual shooting vs competition" delineation wasn't mentioned in the post that started this discussion.

The AEA 45 gr .30 pellets have been amazing for me so far. JSB have been kind of inconsistent. Just shot this string with the AEA 45s today straight out of the tin with no sorting. Forgot to click ok on the chrono, so i missed the first 3 shots, but you get the idea.

My MA2 .30 didn't like AEA 45's at 1st. Did really well on JSB's. However, after several hundred rounds of breaking in the rifle, I decided to try the AEA again. Much to my surprise they are shooting very consistent now. If it stays this consistent, that could save me some money, and I may try the AEA 50's.

Now that I understand how much swaging the diabolo undergoes in the bore:

1. Based on the pellet's alloy and deminsions.

2. And how the swaging affects the external ballistics of the pellet.

3. It makes sense that out of 15 different .177 types (weight & size) of pellets I have now tested:

a. 2 different types of pellets, each at a different FPE, are very accurate at 20 yards from my M3. - H&N, RWS

b. 2 different types of pellets, each at a different FPE, are very accurate at 20 yards from my Thomas BR. - H&N, JSB
