JTS JTS Airacuda - New Owner - First brand new PCP - Looks used

A couple pictures of mine after several tins of pellets. I could see the wear on the receiver possibly from shipping vibration but it seems more than mine that has seen use. Also my foster fitting was black and has worn shiny from use. My thought is it has had some work done on it. That could be a good thing if any problems have been addressed but you paid for a new rifle not a reconditioned one. I for one am curious who the vendor is, but that's your decision to tell or not.

I bought a Gauntlet .25, three of them, two exchanges, then a refund, a third purchase and return for refund. All leaked, all looked used, all had Magic Marker repairs to the black stuff they are semi-finished with. I then got an Avenger .25. Same thing, leaked, shot all over the place, had Magic Marker repairs to the black stuff it too was finished with and it was a plastic receiver! Returned for refund. So, no more China guns for me.

Yep. I have a Gauntlet .25 that has always had leaks. Eventually gave up on it. It's now just decoration in my utility shed. As well as a Umarex Origin.

Thanks, same wear pattern as my three-pellet tin MAX .25, took picture to post but computer isn't talking to phone anymore. Looks to me, at least, wear pattern posted by OP is worse. Never heard of anyone, pre-consumer, "testing" a PCP with hundreds of rounds. WM

Bear bit me with Airacuda MAX, bit bear with Generation One Gauntlet .25. Look what this old-timer did last week. WM

Seller has agreed to take the rifle back. I really wanted this PCP. Rad looking rifle. Oh well....So i just decided to get an Air Venturi Avenger since they are available for purchase right now.

I will keep the vendors name quiet for now and wait to see if and when I get my money back.
Great time to shop PCP with Black Friday-Cyber Monday deals around. Avenge-X is Air Venturi's recent platform upgrade to Avenger. PA Insyder, Pyramyd Air's video department, has a great side by side comparison on YouTube. Recommend, if sticking with original Avenger, go with wooden stock, either laminate or plain, synthetic stock not impressive. Too bad about JTS Airacuda Standard, mainly positive reports from owners. WM

Thanks for all the help and feedback on this.

I opted for the the synthetic stock so I can BUCK RAIL it!

Phone finally decided to share photos with computer, here's 3 pellet tin wear on MAX. WMView attachment 517395
That's not normal. Definitely something wrong. My Max is at JTS now for a second warranty repair in less than 2 months. When it comes back, not sure I'll even use it. Probable sell it. They've had it more than I have any way.

If the vendor messages are an exact quote, it sounds like complete bullpoop. It seems condescending, and skirting the truth..."has never been sold to another customer", ok, was it loaned, or demod? Seems oddly specific. I would not trust this vendor to be honest, when their message is crafted in this fashion and ask for a refund. Also, totally looks used.

All that said, travis whitney is a snake and i will never buy anything he has touched.

I feel like I would have kept the rifle if he wouldn't haven't been so condescending and untruthful. It's definitely used. Again, I don't want to throw anyone under that bus but do I make this community aware of the vendor? I don't know Travis Whitney but don't think it's him.

Avenger is on the way and ordered the buckrail kit for it too. This rifle will go nice with my Gen 1 M-rod. .22 in the Avenger, .25 in the m-rod and then maybe next, I'll get a nice .177 bullpup...yeah this is a money pit. :) Better than going to the bar. Oh and I have no time to learn tuning so I also got the 'pro-tune' done to the rifle too. I don't foresee my self investing in a chrono so that was nice to be able to add that service onto my purchase.

PCP life without a chronograph is almost impossible. Even if you have a robust trouble free gun like a Taipan or AAA. PCP owners need that tool just like they need pellets and air. You at least need baseline speeds for what you’re shooting. Then when, not if something gets weird, you can check your guns speeds. With the cost of pellets, a good enough chronograph will cost you what, three tins of pellets?

The “pro-tune” is only a pro-tune if the seller worked the reg over with some polishing and lube then broke the gun in with 500 shots. Because once your gun settles in, it will probably change. For better or worse will be hard to tell without a chronograph. This guy on the same page as this topic is using his chronograph to help get the most out of his gun.https://www.airgunnation.com/threads/avenge-x-177-readings-are-these-normal.1323489/#post-1863825

Another message from the seller when I said I feel a little bit dissatisfied on the experience due to my lack of knowledge of what’s it’s like to buy a PCP air rifle.

Let's see the signs of use would come from the factory doing its testing, the importer doing their testing, and us doing our testing.

Normally it's only the factory doing testing. But like I said the jts is needed some adjustments even after the importer tested.

Yes testing is very similar to use because we have to use it to test it.

This gun has never been sold to a consumer neither have any of the others we have in stock. All have gone through the same testing and we'll have the same markings.

A little bit of rust on an entry level product, unfortunately rust happens with moisture in the air. Especially in a box that is full of plastic insulation. Plastic holds moisture and steel doesn't like moisture it causes it to rust.

I would tell you we would trade it for one that is in better condition or untouched but they have all been touched and I'm sure they are all in very similar condition.

And this is why they are not 500 1000 or $2,000 guns. And even those might show signs of being tested. ”

Now im not an A-hole. But do I make other people aware of the business name or keep it to myself? Is this good customer service? I gotta be honest. I’ve never experienced anything like this in any hobby that I’ve ever gotten into.
Spit the vendor name out!

Referring to wear on my MAX, think it's average, looks similar to wear on Tincan's MAX in post #21, does, IMO, suggest OP's "new" Airacuda has lots and lots of testing. WM

Crafty wording also suggests trickery to me, gun could have been in personal collection of Dealer, or Dealer family member, as well as Showroom demo or promotional loaner, none of which would have required serial number assignment. WM
