JTS JTS Airacuda Standard Issues

Hello All! I have gone into the web search rabbit hole of a beginner noob getting into PCP'ing and in that journey I have learned the following....
  • Buy a reputable gun or else you'll get made fun of on the internet when you ask for help
  • More money, less problems, less money, more problems?
  • Gamo breakbarrels are not a good entry into air rifling (refer to first bullet point)
  • If you want to make your fills easy, plan on spending another $400-$600 on a tank. Otherwise, get ready to pump...
  • PCP'ing can be like a science to someone who has no idea what a baffle, trigger group, hammer, or shroud is..
  • Expect to go down another rabbit hole when it comes to scopes...
Anyways, in my searching, I have been introduced to the JTS Airacuda due to the YouTube and Google algorithm's. Don't blame me for buying one because from what I watched and read from reputable reviewers and articles online, it's a great gun for the price. I ordered it, then saw the Airacuda had some issues and the Avenger is the better bet for $30 more. But finding evidence of those issues and also a concise list of those issues is nearly impossible. So I thought, why not sign up on a reputable forum and make a list for guys like me searching to get into the game and finding the JTS Airacuda. (With potential ridicule from other forum members)

So I'll start the list and maybe Google can help new PCPers looking at the Airacuda Standard...
  1. The customer services sucks - This is only what I have read and heard. Seems that Reddit is a little more frank on how bad their service is (Anyone want to share their experience with JTS?)
  2. There was an initial pinging sound that all of the YouTubers encountered that was quieted for mass production rifles
  3. Baffle issues? What is a baffle anyways?
  4. Leaking foster adapter due to what?
  5. Issue with clipping on some moderators (For the noobs, that is a silencer) and the pellet smashes into the moderator upon exit of the barrel(I know what a barrel is)
My Airacuda is showing up next week. I bought it for plinking and hunting on my 11 acre property that has quail, doves, and rabbits. Someone gifted me a .25 Gen 1 Marauder but that caliber seems a little big the little birdies so I got this guy to accompany my Benjamin. THANKS FOR LISTENING!
 
First, welcome to the hobby and Airgun Nation, knowledgeable and respectful members here. As a newbie it was recommended I check out Matt Dubber's 9-Part YouTube series, "Airgun Ballistics, 101," best advice, ever. Short, easy to follow, really gives a leg up on the hobby. Second, few complaints with JTS Airacuda Standard, unlike Airacuda MAX. Most negatives mentioned are in regard to MAX. Upper right page corner search thread, "Airacuda Updates," to get up to speed. Customer Service from Travis, at JTS, has been stellar in my two-year MAX struggle, no complaints, they bent over backwards to accommodate, unfortunately, MAX production flaws are hard to overcome from a warranty standpoint. WM

I have an airacuda standard in .22. The foster fitting needed to be tightened, other than that it has been flawless. On the other hand, I have the airacuda max in .30. 1 year old, been in the shop twice for the same issue. The most recent incident took a 3rd and somewhat nasty email to get a response. It has been sent back for the second time, when it returns, not even gonna fire it. Going up for sale. I've got plenty of paper weights.

Thank you for your reply. And the foster fitting tightening is just a bolt I might have to tighten a bit? No special tools. Sorry about your Max but thanks for sharing your customer service experience. I think it's important to keep buyers aware through honest experiences on what to expect from a company taking a few hundred dollars from their customers. Cheers!

Aracuda Standard .22 owner here almost from day one on first launch and have put thousands of rounds down barrel and not one hint of an issue with this rifle. This has been a solid good purchase for me.
I have read that if and when I need parts I'm basically on my own as the service is subpar. O rings are nothing but, if I ever need a major part I'll offer it up for free on the board.

Don't fret as even the top highend guns have parts issues as well, and the parts are an arm and a leg to replace!

I got my money's worth if it broke on me this afternoon. (y)

My .22 had a broken poppet after about a year, maybe 3000 rounds. I called them up and they sent me a warranty replacement poppet (I made my own to get by while I waited). No ping on mine, but the valve strike is louder than the report. I have not tried a moderator so cannot comment on clipping. My baffle stack is fine. Easy gun to work on. The only pain I foresee is maybe a repeat on the broken poppet. Most of those reviews you see on YouTube were pre-production influencer bait.

Thanks for your response. How did you know the poppet was broken? Symptoms to look out for. After a quick search it seems to be something in the air retention or firing department. I won't try to define it in PCP terms but also you mentioned that they did send a replacement. How was your experience with their customer service?

Awesome to hear and sounds like a good perspective about repairing it if it's a piece that seems more than the rifle is worth. Donate it, buy something new.

Same here with my standard .22. Has been excellent. And it's a tack-driver as well. Maybe they should stick with that design. The max .30 is definitely nice, when it works. Yet there are flaws in the design. Glad to hear your standard has been good for you as well.

ChrisK doesn't mention Standard or MAX, here's pic of my broken MAX poppet. The flawed poppet valve design can self-tighten over time and compress until plastic breaks and air reservoir empties out breech, if side-lever open, and muzzle. Travis sent free replacement, under warranty, no questions asked. Lacking understanding I installed without backing off spring and broke it. Travis sent another free, under warranty, no questions asked. WM

My son is was shooting it and it made a burping/farting noise, almost like a whoopy cushion. It still had air in it and stopped firing.

.22 Airacuda Standard. Here's a pic of mine. FWIW, the valve adjustment on mine was at a 12mm depth. I saw Travis's and Ian's videos about 15-18mm depth on the Max versions. I don't know what the factory setting is for the Standard, or if it matters as much because it's not regulated.

IIRC, 45Bravo stated 18.9mm for thread depth, measured mine at 20.1mm, before removal. Returned to 20.1mm on replacement which broke after 25 rounds. Brought issue to forum and Nervoustrig related same "self-tightening" problem Dynamic Air Rifle, a similar design, had to address. I suspect protruding tip of valve spring digs into plastic valve causing movement during use. Found a thin SS washer which fit snugly over plastic spring retaining tip of valve to block digging. Second replacement, set at 18.5mm, still holding steady. Two years chasing accuracy likely undermined by self-tightening valve spring. WM

Yep. My max did the exact thing. Twice within a month. They wouldn't just send me the part though. They insisted on doing the repair.
