JTS Airicuda max vs Maraurder for 1st PCP

Ok so I am ready to make a purchase basically right now. I have narrowed it down to JTS airacuda max or Benjamin Marauder fory 1st PCP. I see that there really are no deals on the JTS. I am concerned about the lack of info on parts and unknown coutry of manufacturing. From what I understand the Benjamin is U.S. made and its on sale. The JTS does seem mote appealing. This seems tough to pick.

I would be very tempted by the Airicuda if not for the fact that it is so new that only a hand full of early testers have any experience with them.

On the flip side, the Benjamin is a well proven design that has been in the hands of many users for year. Add to that the huge aftermarket for them.

Still the new JTS guns are very appealing. If it were me, I would wait 6 months to a year to see how they pan out.
Easy for me to say since I already have three other PCPs to keep me occupied.

The comparison should be more with the Standard and the Marauder ( had both in .25 )
Standard : lighter, slimmer way more ergonomic
........much better magazines, much better
........butter smooth sidelever vs crunchy bolt action
........5 point transfer port external adjustments
........more power stock

JTS MAX if you want a better wood stock.

Benjamin Marauder if you want the Lothar Walther barrel and wood stock but that's going to cost you $225.00 more for that one.

I would agree with jmohme’s take above. The JTS is an attractive gun with very nice features and a great price point. Several folks on AGN got models to review and from what I can tell from their posts is that they all were impressed.

But…those review guns likely had better quality control applied compared with the regular production models. And if you look at the Air Venturi Avenger as an example of new gun problems, it had some regulator issues in its first year or so of production that was not caught by the reviewers.

The Marauder is a little clunky in some areas such as the bolt action, has some great attributes such as the trigger, but it is also time tested and has good manufacturing support.

I have the Gen 2 Marauder in .25 cal. and I just got the Airacuda standard in .25 also. Once I get a scope and start shooting it I will see if I agree with Manny. For sure the magazines are way better then the Marauders.
How do you like the feel of the gun ?...I was just shooting mine to check the zero for a possible hunt in the near future and forgot how light that sidelever is

My first PCP was a Benjamin Marauder 177 and I’ve been very happy with it. It is heavy and big but that makes it a very solid platform. The action is smooth and it’s very quiet. If you happen to buy one in 22 caliber, I could send you an extra magazine I ended up with after I fat fingered my order. 2 mags are nice to have and you won’t find a better price anywhere. Pyramydair took care of me when I screwed up and asked that I give this mag away for free so I’m paying it forward for them. If you get a different caliber, buy an extra mag with it, you’ll thank me when you’re shooting!

I would prefer the antiquated but robust Mrod personally. But if it were me I would go for the Craftsman series Crosman guns like the Akela or Cayden with a 5 year warranty and parts support. I owned a Cayden and loved it. It isn't regulated but it doesn't need it though. 60 very consistent shots. Mine got 72!

I would have to agree. That's why I bought the Cayden as well. Smooth side lever action, walnut stock, and amazing accuracy. How do you beat that warranty??!!
