Just a little recoil.

The next question is, sometimes the scope rings have tape inside and sometimes they don’t.

I would think that tape would benefit from sliding and grip it better.
Is tape necessary?

I would never use tape in my rings, I do remember that as a selling point years back but never heard of any sucess with it. In all honesty one of my tricks is to use blue loctite in the ring. The loctite keeps the scope from moving but doesnt stick permanetly to the ring or scope tube !! It can easily be scraped off with your finger nail..and you dont need to crank down and over tighten the screws, which could damage the scope tube. If you need more details just pm me. My R1 uses a one pc sportsmatch fully adjustable mount, I dont use the stop pin. It has been on that gun for 20 years, never moved !! Mine shoots a .22 14.3 gn pellet at 825 fpe so it is not a low powered rifle.

Thanks I like the idea with the loctite, I’m going to adopt that one. I have a few scope mounts to check. Crow

Problem solved, I hope.

I’m pretty sure it’s the Hawke scope rings come with tape on them. Crow
