You may want to check the lock washer/s on your pivot bolt. Looks like there should be a lock washer on the right side and perhaps have an un needed one on the left?? I have done this myself several times.

Thanks so much! The problem is when I ordered a new one it came with the washer and lock washer but when i push it through there is not enough thread to put the lock nut on the RHS Any suggestions?

Some only have it on the nut side

just got one new (HW50 ) in the box from a local that bought by mistake , so a new style stock (which to me feels good to shoulder and shoot ) Maybe the cutout is to save weight ?

I don’t know, it’s flat there as well, like a bench gun. The idea may have been better stability in the shoulder bag?

It is indeed designed to allow shooting off the bench. I'm told you can put your hand beneath the cutout and use it to make small elevation adjustments.
