Just weighed a new tin of the original style CPHP Crosmans

They shoot ok but i seem to get more fliers. The firts thing i noticed opening my first new type " airpower" was real shiny vs old . Then noticed that gray stuff no longer used as before . If you loda right out of a tin your fingers dont get dirty ad it did with old . But the sizing in one gun i can tell more looser fit in the leade and not as consistent.

I got reservations on them but i still shoot em all day everyday anyway.

With covid, supply , man power and all nowadays i can understand crosman may of had no choice but to make changes to try to make demand .. maybe in 2 more years thing will be thay can go back to business as usual unlike now.? Fingers crossed.😉

I weighed some 25 grain JSBs when I was trying to understand why my guns didn't like the ones I cast in a NOE mold. I found my molded ones varied less in weight than the JSBs I had on hand. I don't remember the actual range of weight but they varied at least .3 grains from lightest to heaviest. Might have been more. For most purposes I don't think it matters.

Has anyone else found this.?
Some of the CPHP pellets are undersized enough to fall right through magazines when loading.
Others fit properly
These are CPHP pellets recently bought on Amazon

No issues in the same magazine with other 22 cal pellets
I dont use a mag feed but i have them so loose they fall through the leade , oit the muzzle and hit the ground on occasion.

Most now with these latest cphp is small siind more then old . A lot more loose ones like here can you yell ones that fit the lead properly with a little push of the thumb to seat vs ones that just "fell in"' the lead ..? Consistent Head/ skirt size does matter crosman seems to have got lax on that with these post covid (as i call'em) runs. You had some before, bit like as many as now .

just ordered 4 tins of the .22 HP's from Amazon. 1 Tin was the old style, the other three tins were the new style.

I'll have to take them out and see.
Ya, then wonder if the old tin are empty ones left over in a warehouse just using them up ..lol

But to what i said about the fit. You see dropping them in on there own weight some need thumb push seating in / good fit then you grab one and it just falls in loose.. that s what im seeing lately more then before.. oh well i just keep buying, them shrug sholders and reload another..

Curious at what weight difference is accuracy affected. That might be hard because you can’t assume the pellet shape is perfect because that can affect flight. Would it matter at .1 gn, .5gn or 1 gn ?

I shot quite a few more of the weight sorted CPHPs and couldn't see any improvement in group size between the sorted groups. From what I am reading head diameter and skirt inspection are the two most important sorting aspects as long as the lot of pellets you are using don't have a huge variation in weight. The unsorted CPHP pellets shoot great in my Factor RC. Sorted or unsorted they don't do much better than about an inch for 5 out of my Prod at 50 ft. If I were to start shooting in FT matches, I would probably just shoot the JSB Jumbo Heavys out of the tin, as they cut the group size from the CPHP in half most of the time and I have not had any fliers from the bench.

I don't have any evidence of the lead chips that are sometimes high in number with tins of CPHP pellets, sticking to it and impacting accuracy or feeding but if there is a chip of lead inside the bottom cavity, and it stays there when firing, I could see that maybe causing fliers. I just don't like dealing with the chips so I shake each new tin in a sieve with holes that let them fall through into the trash, then put them back in the same tin. I am still mulling over the idea of lightly oiling them with silicone oil.

I clean mine most times use a fleece rag and shoe shine buff them , the fleece traps and hold the flakes pertty well enough. The i use a lightly olied rag (Alphabet org fluid) and re buff for a lube coating.. sometimes a pretty dirty tin i will wash.. it all depends on how the tin looks when i open it ,. Sometimes/ most i shoot stright out of a tin as is ..

a lot of us use lemon Pledge , spray on a paper towel (moisten not wet ) and gently roll pellets across

Don't matter if you shoe shine buff it down as thin to nothing with a rag.

Heck ive used car wax ( i think ive about tried everything handy around here..lol)

Add your lube to the rag center dunp in pellets , fold it, work rag back and forth to buff and tumble. What helps in thay is keepinf crap out of the inside of the pellet skirts ,. I found that to be big overall. (Opinion)

Im going to have to pay more attention, didn't know there were new pellets?? I just bought some from Walmart and they were the "old" tins. I went to the range this week and out of 3 different brands (JSB, RWS,Crosman) 4 different pellets, the best groups were the Crosmans. Disclaimer: I just started shooting air guns again and I'm using iron sights only:).

All my pistol competition over the years has been with iron sights. Never did any rifle matches. My favorite setup for IHMSA 200 meter centerfire unlimited would be a hooded front sight with a peep insert and a hooded peep rear sight on a Remington XP100 chambered in 7mm-08. The production guns I shot all had blade fronts and notch rear sights - TC Contenders in 22 LR & 7 TCU, 44 Mag, Dan Wesson Revolvers in 44 Mag and 375 Supermag, For a while I had a Wichita single shot production gun in 7mm IHMSA, S&W Model 41 and 17 in 22, High Standard Trophy 22 LR and a few I can't remember. I wish there was an airgun field target match within an hour of me. I do enjoy shooting reactive steel targets every week but informally.

Pushing 70, I find that I can't shoot the iron sights like I used to, but still like them! This is a photo that looks pretty close to the Wichita 7mm I had.

That looks like its built to last a long time (y).

Whats this stupid moderation here is this ?
"The i use a lightly olied rag (3 letter organization fluid) "

They changed A- automatic, T- transmission, F- fluid.. lol.... I mean wow! Come on man😎.

When did that stuff become a organization? Then a no , no , at agn ( now thats a 3 letter organization, right? Then i assume them 3 letters are A-OK here?) Really.
