Took a half day at work since we're slowing down for the holidays. I braved the crap show that is walmart for some needed groceries. Got home to see a nutter I've been watching for a week now sitting up on the back power pole.
This one has been really skittish, probably seen a few friends and family bleed out at his dining station.
This particular squirrel has been getting in my chicken pen and coop, and never settles for a shot. Being as cold as it is, I figured he'd be slow.
I hurried to carry in all the food, you know the stuff that cost half as much 2 years ago(FJB), and got the pup out and waited.
Sure enough, Mr Squirrel came down to finish up the walnuts I've been leaving for him.
I gave him his Christmas gift a little early. A 22 polymag right in the vitals leaving the muzzle at 860 fps, hit him at 32 yards behind the right shoulder and it stopped under the skin on the left side. Recovered the pellet and it expanded perfectly!
