Kral Arms Kral Puncher Jumbo will not fill

So I received my new Sekhmet digital pressure gauge today. I wanted to replace the stock gauge on my Kral Puncher Jumbo .22 because it was hard to read and didn’t seem very accurate. So took the gun apart and removed the bottle and valve block assembly to degas it. Why Kral doesn’t provide a degas valve is a mystery to me. In any event I put the bottle valve assy. in my vice just enough to hold it. Then I grabbed a small C-Clamp that fit the valve block in order to depress the air valve and release all the pressure. It worked perfectly and took only seconds. I removed the old gauge and installed the new gauge. Put everything back together and started to fill the gun with my compressor. Well nothing happened? The gun wasn’t building up pressure? It seemed like it was leaking from the new gauge threads so I removed the new gauge and re-installed the old gauge but with the same result no pressure built? Then I tried filling the bottle removed from the action so I could better pinpoint where it was leaking. From what I could ascertain it seems like it is leaking from the valve itself where the air is released to make a shot. I attempted to remove the valve stem (for lack of a better term) but it would not budge even slightly. I mean that thing is like frozen? This gun is brand new and I have had it apart before to polish all the trigger parts and it went back together and I was able to fill and shoot it without issue. I’m just stumped and more than a little discouraged. I was really excited to put that new digital gauge in and better see how much air I have been using. I am hoping the brain trust here has had some experience with this and can guide me to resolving this. The gun at this point is completely unusable and that is super depressing. Thank you in advance for any help you all can provide.

Grab the end of the valve stem with a pair of pliers and pull it back to help it seal while the bottle is filling. It'll finally seal around 1500 psi or so.
Thank you DK! I will give that a shot tomorrow. Do I have to keep pressure on it until it gets to 1500 or so? And I should be able to fill it while it is out of the action correct?

I did not dry fire it to empty. I removed the bottle and valve assembly and used a small C-Clamp to apply pressure to the valve stem to open it and empty the bottle of air.
Next time, just loosen the gauge a turn or so til you hear it venting the air out. Let it sit til empty, and it'll all unscrew easy after that. DO NOT try to release the air via the brass burst fitting. You'll more than likely damage the brass hex walls and it'll have to get drilled out and rethreaded.

Thank you for your reply The Punisher. I had to use Google to translate it but it was very interesting. I would be very interested in acquiring one of your improved valve stems and springs if you are willing to ship it to me in the states? I’ll pay whatever the shipping is of course. Also how did you get that assembly apart? I tried unscrewing the valve but it seemed almost welded to the block? I didn’t want to ruin the valve assembly (the part with the two o-rings) trying to disassemble it. Feel free to message me your info on the parts.

To be clear I did not use the brass fitting to release the air. I used a C-Clamp to depress the valve stem gently to open it and allow the bottle to release all the air. I wasn’t even sure what the brass screw was to be honest so I didn’t even mess with it. Using the C-Clamp really didn’t doing anything different than taking a shot except not allowing the valve stem to close as it would when taking a shot. I’m going out to the garage in a little while and I’ll give your method a good try to get it refilled. It also seemed like the new gauge was also leaking when installed. I tried every sealing washer they included? The old gauge didn’t have any sealing washer on it it was just screwed into its bore?

Here is the sealing washers they include with the new gauge. The one on the lower right is a soft rubber compound and the one I used initially. It fits perfectly in the bore of the block but may deform if the gauge is tightened too much. The o-ring seems to be the same size as the rubber “grommet” and fits the same way. The white plastic nylon washer I tried as well and last I tried the larger brass and rubber washer and then an o-ring from the kit I bought that fit snug on the gauge. Nothing seemed to stop air from seemingly leaking from around the threads of the new gauge? I re-installed the old gauge as it came out and it did not seem to leak at all?

I have received stuff from the Czech Republic before but maybe Bulgaria is different. The valve on the Puncher Jumbo .22 should be indentical to your .25 I would think so the very same parts should work on my gun too? If you can’t do it I understand.

If it ain't broke... don't fix it lol.

Kral gauges have always been dead on for me. No need for me to reinvent the wheel and invite a potential problem.

As for the brass plug, I didn't say you tried, I was giving warning as to not try that method. All that's under that plug is the over pressure burst disc.

Well thanks to Dr. Kralenstein I got the gun refilled and shooting again. I couldn’t use the new digital pressure gauge as it was completely wonky and unstable with its reading. So that will be returned for a refund. Thank you all for your help.
If you need anything else, just call on the Doc!
