Lead Round Ball!!

Finally said fffff it and got some round ball lead ammo🧐 I am ssuuppeerr surprised at the grouping results when compared to the Hades...have you all tried these? I think I have a soft spot for them [throw back to BBs ]and easiest loading "pellet" ive ever ever used; plussss because of the penetration testing and such that I just put them through; has me believing that I am definitely going to be buying more of these🤌

*I did get .177 and. 22; they are also the "dirtiest" tins ive ever reached into as well...nevertheless; I enjoy them.

Your thoughts?

I got a tin each of the Gamo 177 and 22 ball just to try them. Shot the 177 from my R9 and the 22 from a Benji Trail NP2. Both shot terribly; at 50 feet grouped 2-3 times the size of any pellets I've tried. They did cycle reliably from two of my spring fed magazine BB airguns (even on full auto). They are filthy little buggers, fingers are black after shooting them.

Neighbor had a year-old Benjamin Trail NP XL .22 he hated so much he sold it for $25, threw in a partial tin of Gamo lead ball ammo. Tried some @ 40 yards, never hit the target. Just use them with my slingshot, now. WM
The round balls shoot terrible from anything I've tried them in that is primarily intended for pellets. With that said I use them in my BB guns for indoor shooting since they are far safer regarding ricochets. They also so far cycle good in my BB stuff.

To be fair to the Trail NP2 the heavy inconsistent trigger is their main problem. I upgraded mine with an SLT trigger kit and dropped the trigger pull to around 2 lbs. Night and day better shooter. Regards

Badger,
Modded the trigger using the model racing car wheel bearing as seen on YouTube, lost the "lawyer" spring, too. After trigger work, a good cleaning, learning the "artillery hold" and finding a preferred pellet (H&N Sniper Magnum 17.90 grain), I'm as happy with the gun as possible, just glad I only paid $25. Powerful shooter for armadillos and racoons @ under 40 yards, though. My seven PCPs take up most of my time, but I enjoy the Trail NP XL for occasional target work. WM

You got a bargain for sure. After the trigger job I find it easier to shoot and marginally more accurate than my 0.177 R9 and that' saying a bit. Best shooting pellet for me in the 0.22 NP2 actually are the CP 14.3gr domed (bit surprised there)

Now I should adjust the trigger on the R9 so it will catch up...

Interesting that the BC of a 22 cal round ball is right around 0.032 which is right in the same range as most airgun pellets in the standard weight range. Ballistically 6 of one half dozen other. I do get significantly lower MV's with round ball vs pellets close to same weight. Example: 0.22 round ball (15.26gr) MV=712fps/17.2fpe and JSB Hades (15.89gr) MV=745fps/19.6fpe. I think the issue with the ball is too much air blow by.

Agree, nasty dirty little things. Finger tips black after shooting a couple dozen. Not very accurate in what I've tried them in.
