Stoeger Leaning to the XM1 Scout

New to PCP guns, but learning a ton. I'm getting closer to deciding on what gun to buy. I'm down to the Avenge-x carbine and the XM1 Scout, both in .22. My shooting will be more in line with pest control inside 50yds with occasional longer shots. I like the idea of having ability to make adjustments externally. For those with the XM1 I have a couple questions: 1. Can the regulator be externally adjusted? 2. How is Stoeger when it comes to warranty and parts support?

Maybe I'm making too much of the ability to adjust the regulator? The more I dig it appears that the hammer spring adjustment works in balance with the regulator prx. Is this correct? My guess is that once I get this gun set up for my needs with a heavy pellet/slug, I'll leave it alone and just use it.

I also have no compressor. Sounds like both of these guns will be too much for hand pumping?

Bang for the buck it appears that the XM1 takes the cake, however I don't know what I don't know being new to this dance.
I have the XM1 scout and the Avenge-X.. I don’t know how the carbine compares but the AVenge-X tactical is a big gun compared to the scout and the Ranger. It’s a tighter shooting gun with heavy ammo and more adjustable but the XM1 is a sweet setup at around that 50 yard range. id recommend investing in a decent pump if you want to shoot PCP. Some guns can be hand pumped to top off but filling from zero is not ideal for these two.

Not sure if this is a big deal or not? I probably need to figure that out before I mount any optic.
I wouldnt worry about that. Shoot it as is a little and see if you get decent accuracy. If you do I would personally look into a barrel band to keep it in one spot. You can probably just give it a gentle tug upwards and get it off the foster cap.

If the scout is like my P35s it is possible the big nut in the end of the air tube is just screwed in about 1 turn more than necessary. There is no stop, you just eyeball it. If your fill probe enters at a bad angle you might want to degass and turn it a little. The threads are fine, there will be plenty of engagement regardless.

It could also be that it needs turned in a little bit to close that gap. Not really an issue but I prefer the fill probe to be horizontal and none of mine came that way. Easy to fix if you are willing to degass and refill after you fix it. Otherwise I'd just shoot it.

I would turn it in a little first to get the probe hole horizontal. I would start by turning it at least 1/4 turn clockwise. If that doesn't fix the gap you could try turni g it a little counter clockwise. The cap is spring loaded and that should cause it to flush up to the shroud but I think the nut is out a little much and it thus can't get to the shroud in spots. But that gap and the angle of the fill hole are both minor things in my opinion. I haven't "fixed" the fill angle on my P35-22 because I haven't needed to take it apart. It will be very difficult to turn when the tube is pressurized but if you degass it will be easy to turn (the pressure forces the O-ring tightly against the nut and tube). There is what looks like a short piece of tube in your parts bag. This is a wrench that will allow you to turn the nut if you want to.

I fear I may have confused things talking about the shroud when I should have said the air tube. The spring loaded cover for the fill port butts against the air tube, not the shroud.
Gotcha, nope that lower tube is tight as well. Took me a while to figure out where that socket fits though, through that slip cover and around the tube pressure gage. Now to see just how hard it's gonna be to hand pump this thing.

Was able to hand pump from a little under 18 bar back up to 22 bar. Didn't really take much effort. Looks like this will work to throw in pack and use wherever.

Shooting between a fence and the house sounded pretty loud to me with my little experience. What moderators work well with the scout? I've been eyeing the airgun capital but have no experience with any of them.
